Case in point: There are no basketball hoops in Northwest Baltimore County. I was told at the Woodlawn Community Meeting last week that many heads of community associations - who are black - have asked that they be closed down so as to stop young blacks from congregating. What the ...?

From another perspective, the Susan Rice promotion is a backhand to the Republicans who blocked her from becoming Secretary of State. So, for anybody who thinks the President won't - well, he did!

Hence, I commend the President for standing by Rice.

The Glover Report: Community Meeting Scheduled for Woodlawn Community Center: Tues., June 4th – 7 pm

The districts particularly relevant to these meetings are the 10^th, the 40^th, and the 44^th – all of which have been altered.

While the 10^th was the only district in the county (of the three listed) prior to the recent redistricting, it now shares that distinction with the new 44^th.

According to Marvin “Doc” Cheatham, a candidate for the House of Delegates in the 40^th, “I am attending this all-important meeting, Doni, and am glad your team has helped pull it together.”

Gary honed his community development and financing skills at St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, COIL-Community Economic Development Corporation and the Maryland Housing Fund. He has been involved in the community development field for over 35 years.

The first thing I’d say is to grow your relationship with God. Call Him what you want, but just aim to be the most Godly person you can be. Help others. Be kind. Say nice things that are true and necessary. Stand up for right. Don’t offend. Don’t be rude. Use your manners. And make your loved ones proud. I have been to the mountaintop and I have been to the depths of hell on earth – but the good Lord stood by me every step of the way. I encourage you to make prayer a staple in your life. All I can say is that It works! It will even guide you to your purpose … or purposes … in life. Most people never find what it is that they love to do and are consequently miserable. Find your passion and live it with all your heart.

The Glover Report: It's Election Time!

Whether it's Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta - wherever, black people have to come to better understand a Delegate from a state Senator and a state Senator from a US Senator. We have to understand what the local Council does, what the state assembly does, and what is done in Congress. We also have to understand the legislation they write and who it impacts. Classic example: prisons. Somebody is voting for more and more prisons. My issue is that too many people who look just like me keep filling these cells. Currently, America has the Gold! It incarcerates 25% of the world's inmates, 40% who are black and male ... like me.

In retrospect, the book would be ammunition and food for me in a 1980's world where Black America was about to be hit with crack cocaine amidst the Iran-Contra-Crack experiment funded by this government and led by Colonel Oliver North. Little did I know that I would be thrown into another domestic war - and that this book would serve me well as a guide. I now understand that Malcolm was giving suggestions on how to digest America without losing one's mind.

They work with pregnant women in trouble and provide them the services they need to have their children. They provide ultrasound, parental counseling, life-management counseling, help with the physical needs of the mother and child and, if need be, help with adoption services.

Unwanted pregnancies often are the result of loneliness, fear and a lack of information. Crisis pregnancy centers deal with all this.
