The Glover Report
The Glover Report: An Open Letter to the Memory of Malcolm X: 2013:
In retrospect, the book would be ammunition and food for me in a 1980's world where Black America was about to be hit with crack cocaine amidst the Iran-Contra-Crack experiment funded by this government and led by Colonel Oliver North. Little did I know that I would be thrown into another domestic war - and that this book would serve me well as a guide. I now understand that Malcolm was giving suggestions on how to digest America without losing one's mind. Read in Full >>

They work with pregnant women in trouble and provide them the services they need to have their children. They provide ultrasound, parental counseling, life-management counseling, help with the physical needs of the mother and child and, if need be, help with adoption services.
Unwanted pregnancies often are the result of loneliness, fear and a lack of information. Crisis pregnancy centers deal with all this.

As a student of political science in Maryland – and as a journalist who can recall the onset of the O’Malley era in Baltimore City in 1999, I have come to have a sincere appreciation for the people who genuinely stand up for black people – no matter how difficult it might be. I have also come to see clearly people who don’t.

The Glover Report: Happy Mother's Day from Bmorenews.com:
I wasn’t going to write anything. Honestly, I figured I’d just cruise through the day. However, even though I don’t have a mom in-person – I do have some wonderful, wonderful women who share motherly love with myself and others.

The Glover Report: The Road to Annapolis Goes Through Liberty Road: Term du jour: ROI (Return On Investment), 5.11.13:
For instance, I’ve had a bunch of gotdamn blue lights blinking in my neighborhood for years – and the neighborhood’s still the same. All they do is red line my neighborhood. Well, except for all the people complaining about speeding tickets. Other than that, I’m looking forward to an exciting election season.

The Glover Report: ‘Curvitis’: Irritation from Learning and Adjusting to NEW Technology, Pt. I:
When I first started www.bmorenews.com, AOL was the in-thing.
Twenty years later, people are inundated with – no, not Palm Pilots – but Smart Phones.
The Glover Report: I Believe in Black America (Inspired by Black Wall Street RANDALLSTOWN business networking event, 5.4.13):
I see a day when the billion or two dollars that flow along Liberty Road will start garnering the due attention it deserves. I see this as a Gold Coast – one vibrant with life – and certainly deserving of the very best that this life has to offer – including something as simple as basketball courts complete with backboard and goals (something that is visibly absent in Northwest Baltimore County).
Unite! Come together! Put pettiness aside and eat at the table of brotherly love. We must do better with our dollars. Our future is worth so very much – for it is the world we leave our children’s children.
The Glover Report: April Sims and Michelle Blue: Dynamic Duo Aim to Help Empower Women via Documentary on Overcoming Sexual Abuse:
Both women are examples of people who have overcome obstacles and adversity and have become entrepreneurs in Baltimore - a hard place to earn respect. Nonetheless, they are collectively focused on empowering even more women by way of a documentary. Their mission is to use their resources to help young women who suffer from low self-esteem. The Glover Report: 44th District Delegate Ruth Kirk: Maryland Shero Remembered:
Brister is no stranger to the political process. In addition to his work for the City of Baltimore, he is also one of the most politically astute Baltimoreans around. And – he’s been known to wear the meanest pair of alligator shoes ever made.
“In politics, most of our people are followers,” he said. “But, not Ruth Kirk!”
Her long-time neighbor and friend, Gertrude Hack, would also side with Brister. The President of the Allendale Community Associaton, Hack has been a loyal Kirk Family-supporter for years.

“There’s Nothing Good about Growing Up to Be a Black Woman” By Tiffany L. Gill:
But today, I worry about the influences that are helping to shape our young girls. In a media and technology driven culture - saturated with violence, sex, anger and misogyny - where will our girls discover their modern day Harriett Tubman, Maya Angelou or Oprah Winfrey? Along the way, I would discover - through interviews and focus groups - that there are many young black girls who share Alisha’s ideology and I worry about what will become of the black woman's legacy. Twenty years from now, as they flip through the cyber pages of our history, what will our daughters remember about us? Will they hold us in the same high regard that we hold our ancestors? I am afraid that the answer may well be, “No.” Read in Full >>
The Glover Report: Black Wall Street RANDALLSTOWN is Set for 5.4.13 (9:30a-1p) at Randallstown Community Center:
The May 4th Black Wall Street RANDALLSTOWN will highlight black business successes – along with individuals who have been helpful to the growth and development of black business.
Why? We have found that the more people in the community know about the black businesses in operation, the more likely people are to support them – and the more likely they are to stay in business successfully.
Further, African Americans garner approximately $1 trillion in annual disposable income. Hence, there is no reason why any black business worth its salt with a decent product or service ought have any problem succeeding – no matter how challenged the economy.

Guest Editorial: Born This Way. Equality for ALL.:
As a mother of males I wish that my boys get married and have wives and 1 or 2 children. I also wish that they be honest and fair, balanced and with good values. Nevertheless if any of them ever comes to me with a different sexual orientation I will accept it and wish them the best in life. Read in Full >>
TGR: Bmorenews Publisher Speaks to East Baltimore Businesses at Humanim: EBDI Invites DG to Speak:
A very special thanks to project manager Andrea Garris Jackson for inviting me to speak to local businesses this week about affordable marketing. Like Jackson reminded me, we all need a refresher course from time to time. I'm certain that I gained some new insight; I only hope the business owners in attendance feel the same way. By all indications, they did.

The Glover Report: Political Analysis of "Open Letter" by Jay Z: Featuring Nehemiah Moutrie:
“I really don't think it’s farfetched to believe that his [Jay Z] close association with the prez (Obama) is not a casual, coincidental relationship,” said Nehemiah Neil Moultrie. He continues with some keenly interesting analysis the greatest rapper alive. After all, Hov has been in the company of the President of the United States. And that certainly speaks volumes.
