The Glover Report
The Glover Report: Dunbar Homecoming, Poly Football, and the Baltimore Activist Awards 2012:
Talking about speechless ...! I quickly had to gather my wits, read the spirits, and – be myself. All I know is we had a really nice time. I had so much fun with them, despite meeting under such a cloud.
Anthony Anderson was horribly killed, according to witnesses, by the hands of a Baltimore City Police Officer.

It is just over one week away from election day, and we have an excellent opportunity to make history in Maryland. For about 18 months, MCFR and our allies in both parties have worked to overturn the overtly gerrymandered map that is before the voters. As you probably have heard, Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced that he is AGAINST Question 5! Read in Full >>
The Glover Report: New York City Parents Fight Morning After Pill :: Join us Tuesday at 10 am on WOLB 1010 AM www.wolbbaltimore.com:
In the middle of the Poly-Mervo game, one in which Poly lost by 8 – I got a phone call from New York City. It was so encouraging that I had to share it with you. If you recall, I did a column on the Morning After Pill being liberally disseminated to 8 additional schools in New York City to girls as young as 14 without parental knowledge or consent. This makes a total of 13 New York City Public Schools engaged in a controversial pilot program that began over a year ago and makes birth control available to children.

The Glover Report: Mr. Mitt Romney, You're Insincere!:
Here’s another one I’ve been trying to figure out: Why, at a time when diversity is the order of the day – why in the world would the Republicans choose two white males? Helloooo! It’s 2012. You couldn’t find a Latino? A woman? Read in Full >>
The Glover Report: Coppin Stage Set for New, Steady Leadership: The Resignation of Dr. Reginald Avery, President of Coppin State University:
Coppin is a relatively small family - compared to larger universities in Maryland. However, there is a lot of history at Coppin. It's next leader must come to appreciate Coppin's legacy to the community and all of the beautiful people who graduated there. Yes, this next president must come acting like he plans to marry Coppin, the beautiful bride and treat her and her people like a leader should: firm, but fair.

Guess who came to the Memorial Service for former State Senator Clarence Mitchell, III? Rick Hite, our good buddy formerly of the Baltimore City Police Department.

Guest Editorial: A Hip Hop House Divided: What Happened to U.N.I.T.Y. ?:
The only thing that is keepin’ commercial rap afloat, right now, is the implicit complacency of the silent majority of the population who appreciate real Hip Hop.
In other words, although many people complain , few are willing to actually do something about it.

Baltimore entrepreneur works to heal missing and exploited persons; raises awareness about abductions, human trafficking
Can’t tell you where I first met the sister. I’m thinking that Eric Stewart and Women of Power may have had something to do with it. What I can say is that I dig her spirit. She cares. Simply put, she gives a damn about people. For her, the specific demographic is those persons who are missing out here via human trafficking.

As the father of an 11-year old daughter, I am absolutely flabbergasted at the efforts currently underway in New York City Public Schools to give Morning After Pills to children as young as 14-years old without their parents’ knowledge or permission. In a day and time when schools have to get permission just to give a child an aspirin, apparently giving a child a Morning After Pill to end an unwanted pregnancy is not as big a deal to elected officials and proponents of the program. After all, permission slips were sent to parents. Really? REALLY?

The Glover Report: www.BMORENEWS.com Hits Chicago, 10.11.12:
From a political standpoint, those with whom I talked love Pres. Obama and feel he’s facing racism daily. They also like Rohm Emanuel, who – while I was there – let go of the Chicago Public Schools’ CEO Jean-Claude Brizard by ‘mutual agreement’. This came on the heels of a 7-day strike of the nation’s third largest school system in a Presidential election year where the last thing the President needs is turmoil within otherwise solid Obama territory. Clarence Mitchell, III, former MD State Senator, Passes:
My heart and prayers to the Mitchell family regarding the loss of Clarence Mitchell, III – our beloved state Senator – our friend – our ‘Bear’ also known as “C3”. When I was first getting my entrepreneurial news grind started, he and C4, his son and my friend, gave me air-time on WOLB 1010 AM right down on St. Paul Street in downtown Baltimore. They gave me love and encouragement. And over the years, the same would continue to happen.
Meanwhile, view our final interview of this political force.

J. Wyndal Gordon to Release New Book ... Soon!: "Jury of Our Fears: The Trial of the D.C. Sniper.":
In the wake of the latest Lee Boyd Malvo interview, many have asked me in the last 24 hours, --but actually over the last six years, how’s my book on the D.C. Sniper coming and when do I think it will be completed. I think some even doubted whether I was really working on a book. Well, the answers to those questions are the book is coming along slowly but fine, and I don’t know when it will be completed. Read in Full >>

TGR: GODSON: Jawon Johnson Scores 3 Touchdowns in Owings Mills' Victory Over Patapsco 47-0:
As the text came in yesterday about Jawon’s great day on the field, I couldn’t help but be grateful that she even thought enough to send it. I mean – people have a lot going on. Nonetheless, it was phenomenal news – especially as I pondered how it literally takes an entire village to raise a child. I guess I was grateful she knew I cared and would welcome the great news with a loving heart because he is like my own son. I've never felt more honored.

COMMENTARY: THIS ELECTION ... (This election is going to be close; I will never understand why.):
”All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. And it’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.” This Romney remark describes to perfection the mentality that I am talking about. The idea that people with less means are trying to get over and make an easy way out. Not understanding the basics of social help has been the big American problem.

Guest Editorial: Open Letter from the New York City Parents' Choice Coalition: Demand an end to presumptive opt-in for the controversial DOE CATCH program:
(Editor's Note: Given the severity of this issue and that this is the first program of its kind in the country, the staff at BMORENEWS agrees that unless a stand is made in New York - this will be at our front door ... by dinner.)
________________________________________
Dear Friend: Members of the New York City Parents' Choice Coalition, an organization comprised of more than a dozen New York City parent and religious organizations, gathered on the steps of City Hall today to demand an end to presumptive opt-in for the controversial DOE CATCH program which provides Plan B and hormonal contraceptives to kids without so much as notifying their parents.
Joined by State Senator Reuben Diaz, former Assemblyman Michael Benjamin, NYC Parent’s Union President Mona Davids, and others, the group renewed its call for an optional abstinence centered sexual risk avoidance program to be offered in the schools.

Guest Editorial: POLITICS: Selective prosecution based on race and party cast doubts on state prosecutor:
And stories like these go on and on, for when you look at the obvious heavy hitter names that these prosecutors went after, the likes of: former Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon, Ron Lipscomb, Tiffany Alston, Darrell Miller, Julius Henson, Helen Holton, John Leopold, Paul Schurick; all are either African American Democrats or Republicans. Yet, when you compare people like bread kingpin John Paterakis fine and slap on the wrist of no jail time, or even community service based on his age (80); you wonder why elder African Americans such as Baltimore County Councilman Ken Oliver or former Baltimore City State Delegate Clarence ‘Tiger’ Davis – both convicted of minor campaign violations – weren’t afforded the same leniency? Both received probation before judgment while Davis was also forced out of the legislator and Oliver - who is 67-years old - also received 50-hours community service? Was he not too old? Good mornng all! Yesterday was an interesting day, indeed. This weekend, I write this post from Washington, D.C. I am in town for the 42nd Annual Legislative Conference. The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is holding a four day event, which started this Wednesday. A great launching point for the events of the day, as they would run the gamut in dealing with a number of issues that effect young voters. Read in Full >>
Commentary: Where is "The Cosby Show" for this Generation?:
I have a confession to make. It’s a hard one to acknowledge, for in doing so I will also have to own up to my history as somewhat of a cynically inclined, your-never-black-enough-for-me, radical, “hater”. And, while my love and appreciation for my people is as solid as ever, as is my belief in our right to demand justice, I’m older now. Today, I have a much more rational and pragmatic perspective on life, and accept that there are many ways to achieve the same goal. I’ve matured. Read in Full >>

The Glover Report: The Middle East: The President's Albatross?:
In short, the Arab/Muslim world does not like us trying to tell them what to do or how to do it. Their values are different. Their religion is different. Their culture is different.
