TGR: Clintonian Betrayal of Blacks

On Friday, the former First Lady told the South Dakota Argus Leader's editorial board a very horrific, ignorant and deadly thing: "My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right?...........We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California."

In case the implication was missed, allow me to explain. By making this comment, Sen. Clinton has possibly placed the idea of someone assassinating Sen. Obama right in the public eye. Mind you, prior to this lethal rhetorical blunder, he already had beefed up Secret Service security.

(BALTIMORE – May 26, 2008) – Firstly, a special thanks to Senator Barack Obama for most effectively representing African Americans – and all Americans - in one of the finest politically intellectual forms this nation has ever seen. Even more, thanks for risking your life every moment of this campaign. Conscious people everywhere recognize the sacrifices you are making. Conscious people everywhere remember where we are as a nation and how we got here. As a black man in America, conscious people everywhere recall too easily the black leaders – and white ones, too - who died prematurely from the period of American Slavery to the Civil Rights Era - all because they chose to fight for a better America – one inclusive of all its citizens. Further, despite the assistance of her former US President husband, Bill Clinton, many Obama supporters believe that Senator Hillary Clinton was handily beaten in this 2008 Presidential Primary some time ago.

With that said, now on to the dangerous matter at hand.

While her campaign is clearly doomed, she wants to be president so bad that she has stooped to the lowest level possible. Sidebar: Anytime somebody is willing to go that low, the question must be asked: Is it worth somebody's life?

Earlier this year, she stooped to a nearly low level by suggesting that President Lyndon Baines Johnson, and not the Rev. Dr. Martin King Luther, Jr., catalyzed the Civil Rights Movement. Truth be told, it was a bunch of people who got the ball rolling - including Rosa Parks.

And to think, Bill Clinton was referred to by some leaders in Maryland back in 2002 as the first black president. For me, the question was and is: How so?

Granted, President Clinton was a genius as president. The economy was good; businesses took off. Unprecedented amounts of money were going to urban communities across America like Baltimore, New York, and Detroit. And on the world scene, he truly showed his brilliance and ability to deal effectively with world leaders.

At the same time, he usurped the Newt Gingrich and Republican Party agenda, enacted Welfare Reform, and earned the historic distinction of being known as the Incarceration President. From a black American perspective, given that nearly half of America’s prison population is black males – President Clinton could easily be viewed as a #1 enemy of the black community.

In any event, it just seems interesting that he hasn’t schooled his wife about dealing with difficult challenges and situations. Somehow, he hasn’t taught her how to be as slick with the black community as he was.

Instead, the Clintons have consistently highlighted their betrayal of America, and especially its black population. Sen. Clinton has not made any real efforts on behalf of Sean Bell's tragic death nor put forth any plans as to how to help black businesses in Harlem. Hillary Clinton’s latest gaff, in short, is simply the worst political comment in this nation’s history and succinctly reiterates her inability to lead a country – especially given the history of race relations in this country. Further, she seems to lack a real understanding of black America.

I just figure President Clinton would have better schooled his wife. Instead, her campaign has crashed and burned, and the former President may not even see her become Vice President.

Again, God bless and keep Obama!
