TGR: The Young Lions of the DMV to Host Luncheon Fundraiser for Congressman Elijah Cummings
(BALTIMORE - February 18, 2009) - Firstly, let me take the opportunity to say “Thank you” to all who attended the 6th Annual Baltimore Black Business Week Soiree last night at the New Baltimore Hilton’s Diamond Tavern. To say the least, it was simply magnificent.
To see area entrepreneurs and business professionals – from Liberty Road Business Association’s Denise Murphy to Marsha Jews to Heaven 600’s Doresa Harvey to Starvin Marvin Bail Bonds’ Marvin Harris – all networking, enjoying the atmosphere, and exploring potential business was just a beautiful thing.
If you missed it, stay-tuned to www.bmorenews.com for details on the next business networking event on Tuesday, March 10th at the New Velleggia’s Restaurant at 110 Water Street in downtown Baltimore near the harbor.
Now, on to the next item. On Monday, February 23rd – my daughter’s birthday – DMGlobal is proud to announce a luncheon fundraiser being held for our own beloved Congressman Elijah Cummings.
Yes, we know the economy is tough on our pocket books these days. However, we cannot forget our hero who was the first Marylander to openly give his undying support to the man who is now President of the United States, Barack Obama.
Hence, a newly formed group – the Young Lions of the DMV (DC-MD-VA) - will host a luncheon fundraiser for the Congressman featuring a special guest appearance by Washington, DC Councilman and son of the late Ron Brown (former US Commerce Secretary under President Bill Clinton), Mr. Michael Brown.
Followers of bmorenews.com will recall that we did a meet-n-greet for Councilman Brown back in 2006 down at Eden’s Lounge in Baltimore. So, we are grateful to still have a rapport with him now that he has secured his first official post.
As for Congressman Cummings, we are elated to do this labor of love for a man who has continuously served his community – the 7th Congressional District – with integrity, loyalty, and the spirit of love.
Hence, to attend, individuals simply need to bring a check for $250. Sponsors: $500. Political Action Committees: $1000.
The luncheon fundraiser for Congressman Cummings will take place on Monday, February 23rd from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the Intercontinental Harbor Court Hotel in downtown Baltimore.
The Chair of the fundraising committee is none other than Baltimore City Councilman Bill Cole.
