TGR: To My People ... Despite the Rotten Economy, Just Believe!
To My People
(BALTIMORE - May 12, 2009) - People out here are feeling the burdens of life crack down on us. Lifestyles are changing. Going out to eat every time we want is quickly becoming a secondary issue. Trips or vacations are now becoming staycations. Cable TV is not as important any more and paying the mortgage off is increasingly becoming a priority (particularly the principle).
We have faced tough times before. While I grew up in a Cadillac, I, too, know about lights getting cut off, running water privileges being suspended, bill collectors on the phone (Mommy said she is not home!).
Bills, money, debt collectors … They have no power here. Au contraire. God has all the power! And He will never leave nor forsake us. Yes, there will be some uncomfortable times. Actually, this is the worst American economy ever (Thanks, George W.). Even more, no, I don’t have a million dollars at the present. But … God does have any and everything your heart could imagine.
Truth be told, we, Americans, are among the most blessed people on the planet earth. The very fact that you can even read this is testament alone to the fact that you are blessed ... even if you are in prison or a hospital. Some how, some way - you know that God is with you. I rarely do the Jesus thing here on bmorenews, but I am reminded that people are in a storm ... a Katrina, even, right now. Some don't see a way through.
Solution: Have faith. Hebrews 11 speaks about how "it is impossible to please God without faith!"
No matter what you’re going through, no matter how difficult the task, no matter how never-ending the bad times may seem – our God is awesome. And from personal experience, I can attest – He is ALWAYS on-time. The Book of Psalms says, “Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.”
The good book says that "young men shall faint," but that God will "mount up your wings" like an eagle’s. And so, when you are going through it and can’t seem to see your way out, I will only say the same thing: Trust God!
Therefore, as a child of God, I personally consider myself terribly rich in spirit. And nobody can tell me otherwise. One with God is a majority; end of story!
Bottomline: Keep the faith! Keep your eyes on the prize. And lastly, may we all count our blessings. We, the believers and children of God, will see this through. Just believe!
