The Glover Report: ELECT OR RE-ELECT '12: Response to Vice President Biden’s Comments: “…They gon’ put y’all back in chains”

(WASHINGTON – August 16, 2012) -  I respect the Office of the Vice President of the United States of America. Further, I understand what that means – especially in relationship to the first African American President, Barack Obama.

However, even in the midst of the worst economic times and in a period of social injustice, i.e. Trayvon Martin and 21-year old Chavis Carter, the handcuffed young black man who was killed while in police custody – it is still inappropriate for anyone to use the painful vestiges of slavery in any connotation – political or otherwise – and think it’s okay.

Your thoughts?

Joe Biden said,"They're going to put y'all back in chains." The reality is that we are already in chains - of the worse kind- we have prisons filled with our children who spend their days behind bars or walking the halls of prisons instead of schools; walk the streets like zombies filled with drugs; kill each other over tennis shoes; have their pants below their behinds like convicts; enjoy sex without condoms creating an epidemic of AIDS within Black Women; we have the highest unemployment; We no longer find it urgent to vote - we even have ministers telling us not to; we allow the Republicans to block our votes; change voting laws; our neighborhoods are filled with over 40,000 vacant homes; our schools are closing; children are graduating functionally illiterate; we don't support Black Businesses; and spend way too much time watching/ being lulled by reality television shows rather than dealing with our own reality! Until we unchain our own minds the rest of the world will continue to evolve and progress while we stay chained to the destruction of our own community! I say, "listen to Joe and Free Your Mind" Until we remove ourselves from this downward spiral we will get what they give us! We have no sense of urgency to change our communities... we sit on the sidelines talking mess on the corner and not in the voting booth.... We can break these chains - but we have to want to do it! Much Peace, Infinite Love & Immeasurable Blessings!

Joe Biden didn't say anything that we didn't already know...people have been focusing on the distraction...My question is..'What Is More Outragest...Joe Biden's comments or Voter Supression...The Tea-Party and GOP have used worse language then that in recent months and doing this whole campaign..but I haven't seen any outrage concerning the comments that they have made against the President and Black Folk in general...While we distract ourselves they are slipping in the back door and taking our rights away...Biden didn't do anything but tell the truth..but maybe the truth hurts and I know that his statement did hurt them more then it should hurt Black Folk...Black Folk should already know what deep-rooted hatred that they have...the only thing a person has to do is listen to them when they spread their lies and propaganda...when are we going to wake up and realize that racism still exist and people do want to put us in chains...My question is what are we going to do about it..are we going to just lay down and let them do it...we have more tools at our disposal then Black Folk did in the 50's and 60's...so people need stop being so sensitive and focus on what the real issues. are...Healthcare..Education..Social Security...Medicare and of course Employment...We have come this far and we can't go back...Peace and May God Bless..
