The Glover Report: The Era of Obama

Obama Turn-out
7 am at William Pinderhughes Elementary on Historic American Day: The Obama-Biden ticket has yielded unprecedented voter turn-out in the African American community. Long lines can be likened to South Africa's first free election where Nelson Mandela, a political prisoner for 27 years, became the nation's first black president.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired… To support whatever is right, and to bring in justice where we've had so much injustice …Nobody's free until everybody's free. - Fannie Lou Hamer, American Civil Rights Fighter

(BALTIMORE- November 4, 2008) - Today is already the greatest moment in American history. Separate from the annihilation of the indigenous peoples so fondly recognized as the Indians – the Chippewa, the Cherokee, the Cheyenne, the Apache and the Sioux – today, Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 will become the date known throughout that an African American – not quite white like the forty three presidents before him - will become President of the United States of America.

Last night, as I sat at dinner with my 7 year-old daughter, she asked did I know that Barack Obama was mixed. I responded to her, ‘Baby, a lot of people are mixed.’ But then, the serious, deadly, and terrifically ignorant premise of what skin color matters came to my mind. Shouldn’t we get the whole teamwork by now?

The bright side is that while we know the ugly side of race that DuBois spoke about over a hundred years ago exists, today we have seen it with our very own eyes: An America for all people.

Obama by 13 points, baby!

Our future and our children’s future deserve this kind of better. This is beyond race, beyond gender, beyond class: It’s here! A new America, one that makes Dr. King’s dream a reality, has actually happened in our lifetime. We should all be proud.

Hence, I suggest that we mark this great occasion by getting rid of political parties and simply work together.

At the end of the day: you either love the well-being of this country or you don’t. Furthermore, war doesn’t seem to be working. Plus, the other guys are really starting to hate us. And where the hell is Osama Bin Laden? And who wasn’t watching out on 9/11 and why are we in Iraq?  By the way, how did George clip the election 8 years ago in Florida?

And now historic American financial institutions are all of a sudden missing, CEO’s are booking out the door with multi-million dollar buy-outs, and yet people have reported $500 and $600 energy bills. Something just seems fundamentally wrong with the current pathway of this nation.

I say, count all the damn money already taken from Americans for taxes, gasoline, and the Iraqi War and build hundreds of new schools across America. And stop stealing from our seniors.

Tonight, the dream of our ancestors is finally realized. Praise the Lord.

This is a defining time, hour, and moment in history not just because Barack Obama is black. He represents a fresh & new government that connects with "the people of this mighty nation". One that isn't willing to bow down to the vicissitudes of the monotonous "politics and business as usual". Offering a new attitude on reforming broken policies, a new hope for the restoring the socio-economic status of our nation, a new energy and spirit for the spirations of many striving for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", a new plan or method for moving forward, a new hope and morale for those who feel like they have been blugened by a system offering what seems to be fueled by broking promises. He presents the demographic of "one for all". We are spurned, ignited, and driven by a sincere pledge to restore, rebuild, and reshape, and revive the bureaucracies that have been cancerous to the loop holes of or system. We have stood, voted and the tally has been counted, and now is the time for everyone sattle up on the road toward change with the righteous winds blowing against our backs. Together we must change the way we think, talk, act, and walk. We must change how we view of fellow Americans. We must stand together, side by side, with a conscientously determined effort to move forward to learn from the past, change our present, and feed the mustard seeds of our future. We can not go back to an old character and mindset of "I have to do or make good for myself and my own". We must work with "a unity of the spirit through the bond of peace." We must encourage our fellow American to do better and work harder: to not act on war, violence, ignorance, mis-education, and tolerance of the pillars that threaten the infrastructure of our nations foundation. We all have to do our part in sewing seeds of "hope, love, peace, brotherly kindness, self-control, and faith." Let's purge the dis-honest, get-over, back-bitting, back-stabbing, and dog-eat-dog bussiness that has been the mitochondrion of our economic system, judicial, and legislative system. Let's stop cheating our selves and selling each other short as a justifiable means to an end. Let's foster the betterment of education and the ability to attain it, let's re-vamp of welfare to work programs with the end goal being "working to make a life, not making a living." Let's encourage those who are entraped to abusive habits, lifestyles, and ways that threaten or good name and credit. Let's educate those who are ignorant and misunderstand the "roadmap to recovery and progress". Let's inspire, motivate, and foster the hopes and dreams of the children of our future. Let's care for those who have blazed our trails, who have given there life to service and committed themselves to work with a nature for the "common good." Let's help those who want to move ahead but feel cornered with there backs against the walls because of foolish and mis-guided decisions in early or late stages of their lives. Let's reward the hard work and efforts of those who strive to do good and do better. "Good, better, best never let us rest, until our good is our better, and our better is our best."

I sit here today at my desk having cleared my mind and it hit me Wow!!!!! Wow!!!

I cant believe that less than 44 years ago, we as people did not have the right to be recognize in this country as human beings and full citizens much less have the right to vote.

Regardless of how you feel about Obama personally its time to celebrate the moment>

In the spirit of Ida B Wells, Frederick Douglass, WEB DUbois, Marcus Garvey, Shirley Chisholm, PS Pinchback, Nat Turner, Denmark Vesey, Adam Clayton Powell, Parren Mitchell, Harold Washington, Thurgood Marshall, Martin and Coretta King, Malcolm and Betty Shabazz, Harriett Tubman, Maynard Jackson, Carter G Woodson, John Henrik Clarke, Leon Holsey, Bayard Rustin, A Philip Randolph and so many more countless named and unnamed soldiers whose work has made this day possible.

To those still toiling among us Jesse Jackson, Ben Chavis, Al Sharpton, John Lewis, John Conyers, Billy Murphy, Kevin Powell, Kobi Little, Malika Sanders, Angela Brown, Farai Chideya, Ron Walters, April Silver, Russell Simmons, and so many more >>>>>>>>>>>>

Thank you on behalf of the dead, living and the unborn. Claim this victory in that spirit because this victory is truly yours!!!

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!!!

It took five years longer than any of us hoped, but the first major step in rebuilding our beloved nation began yesterday.

There is still much to do, but at this historic moment I wanted to pause and say thank you to everyone who has worked in small and large ways to reaffirm the values, ideals, and future we all want our children and grandchildren to know.

I have attached a graphic with an excerpt from Barack Obama's speech on November 4, 2008. I hope you will print it and keep it as a memento of this amazing day and share it with those you know.

Here is the text:

As Lincoln said, to a nation far more divided than ours -- we are not enemies, but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.

To those who would tear this world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you.

We've proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: Democracy. Liberty. Opportunity. And Unfailing Hope.

That is the true genius of America. This is our moment. This is our time. Out of many we are one. While we breath, we hope.

And where we are met with cynicism and doubt and those who tell us that we can't -- we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people.

Yes We Can.

Peace, Susan Franz

P.S. Thank you for Caring, Speaking, Voting

"To those who would tear this world down" means terrorists to me. Israel seeks peace and security. So who do we support, Israrel or the terrorists?

I was born in the United States. I'm a native American. I believe the Indians migrated here like everybody else. Let's get over this African-American stuff. I think it confuses our children. If you're born in Africa, you're African. And isn't Obama just as much white as black? Please help me out with this.

Also, remember, Mr. Obama campaigned for change. He recently said things are going to get worse. What does that mean?

To Zack:

I think I recently heard that more babies are aborted by black women than are born. So when you refer to "the unborn", does that include all or just the ones that they choose to let live?

Let us pray for Mr. Obama. This country needs another strong leader.
