The Glover Report: The Era of Obama

Today is already the greatest moment in American history. Separate from the annihilation of the indigenous peoples so fondly recognized as the Indians – the Chippewa, the Cherokee, the Cheyenne, the Apache and the Sioux – today, Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 will become the date known throughout that an African American – not quite white like the forty three presidents before him - will become President of the United States of America.

Obama Turn-out
7 am at William Pinderhughes Elementary on Historic American Day: The Obama-Biden ticket has yielded unprecedented voter turn-out in the African American community. Long lines can be likened to South Africa's first free election where Nelson Mandela, a political prisoner for 27 years, became the nation's first black president.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired… To support whatever is right, and to bring in justice where we've had so much injustice …Nobody's free until everybody's free. - Fannie Lou Hamer, American Civil Rights Fighter

(BALTIMORE- November 4, 2008) - Today is already the greatest moment in American history.

Last night, as I sat at dinner with my 7 year-old daughter, she asked did I know that Barack Obama was mixed. I responded to her, ‘Baby, a lot of people are mixed.’ But then, the serious, deadly, and terrifically ignorant premise of what skin color matters came to my mind. Shouldn’t we get the whole teamwork by now?

The bright side is that while we know the ugly side of race that DuBois spoke about over a hundred years ago exists, today we have seen it with our very own eyes: An America for all people.

Obama by 13 points, baby!

Our future and our children’s future deserve this kind of better. This is beyond race, beyond gender, beyond class: It’s here! A new America, one that makes Dr. King’s dream a reality, has actually happened in our lifetime. We should all be proud.

Hence, I suggest that we mark this great occasion by getting rid of political parties and simply work together.

At the end of the day: you either love the well-being of this country or you don’t. Furthermore, war doesn’t seem to be working. Plus, the other guys are really starting to hate us. And where the hell is Osama Bin Laden? And who wasn’t watching out on 9/11 and why are we in Iraq?  By the way, how did George clip the election 8 years ago in Florida?

And now historic American financial institutions are all of a sudden missing, CEO’s are booking out the door with multi-million dollar buy-outs, and yet people have reported $500 and $600 energy bills. Something just seems fundamentally wrong with the current pathway of this nation.

I say, count all the damn money already taken from Americans for taxes, gasoline, and the Iraqi War and build hundreds of new schools across America. And stop stealing from our seniors.

Tonight, the dream of our ancestors is finally realized. Praise the Lord.
