The Glover Report: The Ravens’ Victory is One for the People of Baltimore! :: Victory PARADE is on Tuesday, Feb. 5th
By Doni M. Glover, www.bmorenews.com
(BALTIMORE – February 4, 2013) – Congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens on their Super Bowl XLVII victory! Congrats, also, to the people of Baltimore. Like many of you, I know what this victory means to the spirit of the city.
The fans, for those who do not know, are the 12th man on the field. I am sure the prayers of many Ravens fans made the difference.
You see, it’s way beyond football. It’s way beyond the NFL, the Ravens' logo, and the legendary career of Ray Lewis a.k.a. the Gladiator. It’s about a people – a beautiful people who have seen a lot of tragedy and pain and suffering – forgetting everything for a couple of hours and coming together with the people they love. It’s about coming together – all races, all religions, all nationalities – to root for the home team – preferably with a big bowl of momma’s fried chicken, some crab cakes with mustard – (Dijon, of course), and some steamed shrimp with extra spicy cocktail sauce.
Go, Ravens! And Go, Baltimore! Enjoy your time in the sun. If anybody needed a reprieve from the madness of this world, it is the people of Baltimore.
