Jolly’s Food Market, located at 1500 N. Monroe Street, has applied for a liquor store expansion. There are already thirteen (13) liquor stores within a six block radius in the community, many of which are only blocks away from Carver Vocational Technical High School and Matthew A. Henson Elementary School.
The Baltimore City Health Department Neighborhood profile, published in December 2011, reflects the fact that the mere presence of a liquor store contributes significantly to crime and community violence. We strongly oppose the presence of yet another liquor store in our community. As a community stakeholder, I sign my name in agreement of the opposition against the transfer of this proposed liquor store.
