Mind you, I don’t blame Martin O’Malley. Many of us knew way back in 1999 that he had White House ambitions. Who knows? With his past luck, he just might become President of the US. However, for those of us who aren’t going anywhere, my concern and focus is on a Maryland that is easier to live in. My focus is also on holding black elected officials accountable and seeing them fulfill their potential. Otherwise, they need to hit the road; we need to replace them. Constantly, the words of Clarence Mitchell, III ring in my ear of how in his day, eleven black elected officials in Annapolis accomplished more more for black progress than the 40 plus do today.
No, I never blamed O’Malley. I never blamed Sen. President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller nor House Speaker Mike Busch. I have instead chosen to focus on black leadership and thus strive to do my part to keep it alive, functional, relevant, and viable! After all, there is a record number of African Americans in Maryland politics – opportunities not afforded our ancestors. However, does more mean better?

Putting America Back to Work President Obama held a press conference in the East Room to discuss the American Jobs Act, which would put thousands of teachers back to work, rebuild our nation’s old and broken infrastructure and provide tax cuts that will benefit hard-working Americans. He also traveled to Texas to meet with students and teachers at Eastfield College in Mesquite, where he explained how the Jobs Act will prevent up to 280,000 teachers from losing their jobs. The President met with the members of his cabinet to emphasize the importance of all agencies doing everything possible to help pass the American Jobs Act and put thousands of people back to work.
