Guest Editorial: The Standard of Measurement By Malika Muhammad:
Wanda Butts noted in her dominant voice “African American children are 3 times more likely to drown than White children.” The first thought that came to mind was why in the world was this statistic being measured and more importantly why are we using Whites as the standard of measurement…again. Pres. Obama, Leaders Address "Insourcing" Jobs Back to America:
What was the big news at the White House today? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? Well, no - although every photographer tried to get a snap shot. the hot news today was the economy. More specifically, bringing jobsback home.
China, with its burgeoning economy, India, and the Phillipines are all places chosen by American corporations to do outsourcing. This has caused millions of Americans to face a lack of employment opportunities.

THE END OF THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD: This is where Harriet Tubman crossed the Niagara River over into Canada, the land of freedom from the brutal institution of American slavery, a by-product of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade or Maafa where million of Africans cross the Atlantic Ocean in the bottom of slave ships. They were dispersed primarily in South America, North America, the Caribbean, and England. Read in Full >>
The Glover Report: African Americans’ Understanding of Our Latino American Brethren:
Bottom line: Where do black folks get off talking trash about the Latinos, particularly when their road has not been easy? I hear black people say silly stuff like the Mexicans are taking all of the jobs. Nothing could be more ludicrous. Truth be told, many black folks will not work the jobs our grandparents worked. Truth be told, many black folks are not willing to start at the bottom and work their way up – in the same fashion as our elders and ancestors. Truth be told, many black people think they are too good to work a housekeeping or other “lowly” job – especially when many of us don’t even have a high school diploma. Go figure!

President Obama: Both Parties Have a Responsibility to Solve this Problem:
With eight days until our nation faces an unprecedented financial crisis, the President addressed the nation on the consequences the stalemate in Congress could have on the stability of our economy.
Here are some key passages from his remarks:
The debate right now isn’t about whether we need to make tough choices. Democrats and Republicans agree on the amount of deficit reduction we need. The debate is about how it should be done. Most Americans, regardless of political party, don’t understand how we can ask a senior citizen to pay more for her Medicare before we ask a corporate jet owner or the oil companies to give up tax breaks that other companies don’t get. How can we ask a student to pay more for college before we ask hedge fund managers to stop paying taxes at a lower rate than their secretaries? How can we slash funding for education and clean energy before we ask people like me to give up tax breaks we don’t need and didn’t ask for?

The nation’s one million Black-owned businesses account for more than $100 billion in annual sales. However, Black buying power is estimated at $913 billion nationwide in 2010, meaning less than 10 percent of dollars spent by Blacks are supporting these enterprises.
The African American Chamber of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware (AACC) designed a new program titled Reverse 90 to address the problem. It utilizes discounts and deals from member companies to draw customers to the chamber’s 400 member businesses.
TGR: Holiday Message to America: Beware the Twin Powers of Selfishness and Greed:
As I have been frequenting DC lately – let alone hearing so much on the news about how Democrats and Republicans are both beating up the President, I can’t help but ‘smh’ at the members of Congress. I am flabbergasted to see grown people act worse than children. In no way am I the expert on the Hill (yet), but common sense suggests that a lot of people in this country only care about the well-off.
