TGR: BMORENEWS.com: From "Civil Rights to Silver Rights": The Home of Black Business Advocacy:
When I think back to a recent conversation with the former State Senator of the 44th state legislative district, Clarence Mitchell, III, I am reminded of the joyous benefit that comes from a life of service.
One might not get the most lucrative salary for such humanitarianism; however, from service comes a joy that not even money can buy.
At the same time, the persistent entrepreneur can do both: He/she can help people and help themselves simultaneously. Zig Ziegler, the noted mouthpiece for 'sell, sell, sell', says that as we help others reach their goals, we also better our chances of reaching our own goals.
Such is the joy I experience everyday as publisher of www.bmorenews.com.

The Pennsylvania Avenue Redevelopment Collaborative (PARC) invites all to attend the Arabber's Market on Sundays from 9 am to 3 pm. This was designed for the community, especially church-goers.
PARC was established in 1999 to help rejuvenate the Pennsylvania Avenue business corridor, a strip which has undergone tumultuous urban blight. However, many believe that 'the Avenue' can be great again. Historically, this was the 'mecca' for black folks back in the day.

Op/Ed: Working Together for the Sake of MBE's:
I attended the Business Mixer & Legislative Luncheon sponsored by EDTI on Friday May 8, 2009. The successful event was well-attended and a lot of very valuable information was presented to the those in attendance.
The attendance at this event and every other Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) event attracts more participants than any other events including education forums.
This very important fact should alert everyone that the lack of MBE participation in federal, state and local government contracting is an issue that has finally been put on the front burner and won't go away. I applaud the leaders who have sacrificed much to fight the good fight to hold government and you accountable.

This morning, the MWMCA held its 6th annual breakfast in Woodlawn at Martin’s West.
The last time I recall seeing so many people interested in minority business gathered together was at Montgomery County Delegate Herman Taylor’s MBE Night in Annapolis several weeks ago. Prior to that, Visionary Marketing Group’s LaRian Finney brought out a decent crowd back in February. In years past, it was the Small Business Administration’s annual breakfast that set the precedent; by the way, that breakfast will resurrect itself next Friday at Martin’s West.
