TGR: Make Teaching Black History a Priority in Your Household: Keep Hope Alive!:
Here’s a special “Thank you” to Jelani Favors, Ph.D., at Morgan State University (MSU). The MSU history professor had invited me to join Natanya Duncan, Ph.D., who is also MSU’s History Department, and the Honorary Dr. Marvin “Doc” Cheatham. Cheatham currently runs the Baltimore Branch of the National Action Network, is the former President of the historic Baltimore City Branch of the NAACP, and has registered more people to vote than any other Marylander. Even more, he – along with John Milton Wesley – taught me about Fannie Lou Hamer.
The purpose of the invite was to discuss the John Singleton film, Rosewood, which related the events of the Rosewood Massacre in Rosewood, Florida where a handful of whites – and 40 to 150 blacks were killed.

The Glover Report: American Denial: Insidious Disease of Racism Exposed on World Stage:
I thank God that the murder of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year old black Floridian, has gained worldwide attention. Despite the horrific tragedy of this young man’s life being snuffed out prematurely, it has not been in vain. It has shined a refreshing “social media”-age neon spotlight on America’s most lethal disease: Racism. This racial profiling incident, which has yet to lead to an arrest, has put America ‘out there on Front Street’ for the hypocrite it is. How dare we preach to other nations about freedom and democracy when we clearly have dirt around our own door? How can actually call China out on the carpet, when we have never dealt with our most insidious disease of all: racism? Read in Full >>

The Glover Report: George Zimmerman’s Reasonable Doubt :: Trayvon Martin :: Day 39:
I can’t speak for you, but I still feel the pain of racism today: It’s 2012. And I still sense the associated violence. Its sound is sometimes faint, but with each passing day – it gets louder, and louder. The drum of revolution, revolt, uprising, and rebellion against a sinister system that would allow the world to see for itself as the cunning demon called racism boldly raises its ugly head from the ashes of American slavery: Butt-naked for the world to see, it is relentless. And there is no fear of cell phone cameras or the like – because America’s dirty little secret is not the least bit ashamed.

Commentary: Questionable Intent: Trayvon Martin and The Raising of Black on Black Violence:
Many have asked openly “Why don’t Black people get as upset when Black teenagers are killed by other Black teenagers”? In fact, the question is posed so often, that Davey D over at his blog on Hip Hop and Politics has a piece on it. Written by Thandisizwe Chimurenga , it makes some great points about the amount of attention the Black community spends on issues of internal violence. In a sense this is a springboard post, and I would like to add my two cents.

What is BMORENEWS.com? WE COVER THE BLACK EXPERIENCE!:
What is www.bmorenews.com? BMORENEWS, based in Baltimore City, is a living library with one of the largest collections of black news video interviews anywhere on the web. For the past 10 years, we have covered the black experience from an Afrocentric perspective. Our forte is political economy, but we cover a lot of community activities in the DMV (Washington, D.C., Maryland, & No. Virginia) and emerging artists as well, including one of the first radio interviews ever of R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn.
