All high school seniors, undergraduate (2-year or 4-year) college students, and students at vocational or trade schools are eligible to apply. All applicants must be US citizens, 25 years old or younger, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Founded in 2002 by Shawn Carter (Jay-Z) and his mother, Gloria Carter, the foundation has since given scholarships to over 750 students, totaling over $1.3 million dollars.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY ANNOUNCES EVENTS FOR 2013 “RECYCLING AWARENESS WEEK”:
The “Magic of Recycling” show, an interactive educational program on recycling and saving natural resources, will be presented to students in a number of private schools located in the County. Each school selected was identified by Division of Solid Waste Services (DSWS) staff for their outstanding recycling efforts. The program will motivate and educate students and school employees to participate in the County’s recycling program at school and at home.

Prince Georges County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Volunteers Participate in Full Scale Exercise on Saturday May 18th:
Prince George's County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers will take part in the Annual Appalachian Search & Rescue Conference Full Scale Exercise on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Green Ridge State Forest Park in Flintstone, Maryland. Twenty CERT volunteers will have an opportunity to practice their search and rescue skills as the scenario involves finding a lost family on the grounds of Green Ridge State Forest Park. Some of the CERT volunteers will participate as actors and actresses to role-play various scenarios, while others will participate on the search team.

They work with pregnant women in trouble and provide them the services they need to have their children. They provide ultrasound, parental counseling, life-management counseling, help with the physical needs of the mother and child and, if need be, help with adoption services.
Unwanted pregnancies often are the result of loneliness, fear and a lack of information. Crisis pregnancy centers deal with all this.
