Brister is no stranger to the political process. In addition to his work for the City of Baltimore, he is also one of the most politically astute Baltimoreans around. And – he’s been known to wear the meanest pair of alligator shoes ever made.
“In politics, most of our people are followers,” he said. “But, not Ruth Kirk!”
Her long-time neighbor and friend, Gertrude Hack, would also side with Brister. The President of the Allendale Community Associaton, Hack has been a loyal Kirk Family-supporter for years.

The Glover Report: Dr. Ben Carson: From Noted Johns Hopkins Neurosurgeon to President of the United States?:
In any event, Dr. Carson clearly demonstrated a working knowledge of history as well as the ability to tell some great, captivating stories – all the while getting dunks in healthcare, tax reform, and education.
This speech was made in February. Yesterday, Dr. Carson announced he is retiring from medicine at the Conservative Political Action Conference near Washington, D.C. This morning, he was on the Sunday edition of CNN’s "State of the Union with Candy Crowley".
Norman Handy, educator and son of former Baltimore City Councilman Kwame Abiyome, also took note. He said, “I always wondered why I never heard this man speak politically.”

BMORENEWS' United Nations Friends Provide Outreach to Newtown:
Janet Salazar, Special Representative to the United Nations and her partner, Connie Peak, were in Newtown yesterday providing outreach amidst the horrible incident which claimed several lives in Newtown last week, including children.
She said, "We were there for two days to help in grief counseling." She added, "The community needs all the love and support we can give them."
