So when years later, after I had moved on to teach at Morgan State University, I learned from Doni that he planned to follow a career in publishing a new kind of news “organ” for public and community consumption, I was not surprised. As the Senior Vice President of Economic and Community Development for the Baltimore affiliate, he successfully planned and implemented all economic and community development strategies; worked with corporations and foundations to support financial empowerment programs; and helped create business partnerships to increase local minority business participation in the Urban League and community.
