Who is Dr. Ray Winbush?:
Raymond A. Winbush is the Director of the Institute for Urban Research at Morgan State University in Baltimore Maryland. He is the former Benjamin Hooks Professor of Social Justice at Fisk University and Director of the University’s Race Relations Institute. He also served as Assistant Provost and Director of the Johnson Black Cultural Center at Vanderbilt University. Ray Winbush is an scholar/activist and directs the Institute for Urban Research at Morgan State University in Baltimore Maryland. He is the father of three children, Omari, Sharifa and Faraji Winbush. He has published books on raising Black boys as well as edited, "Should America Pay?: Slavery and the Raging Debate on Reparations."
Nolan Rollins, President & CEO, Urban League of Greater New Orleans: Mr. Rollins has a deeply rooted history with the Urban League, having served the 100-year-old civil rights organization in numerous capacities. As the Senior Vice President of Economic and Community Development for the Baltimore affiliate, he successfully planned and implemented all economic and community development strategies; worked with corporations and foundations to support financial empowerment programs; and helped create business partnerships to increase local minority business participation in the Urban League and community.

I thank God that the murder of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year old black Floridian, has gained worldwide attention. Despite the horrific tragedy of this young man’s life being snuffed out prematurely, it has not been in vain. It has shined a refreshing “social media”-age neon spotlight on America’s most lethal disease: Racism. This racial profiling incident, which has yet to lead to an arrest, has put America ‘out there on Front Street’ for the hypocrite it is. How dare we preach to other nations about freedom and democracy when we clearly have dirt around our own door?
