Op/Ed: Fear Triumphed in Trayvon Martin Case:
Then something really interesting happened. Two phone calls were made that capture the essence of the tragedy. Zimmerman and Martin both made phone calls that reveal just how apprehensive each man was over the unexpected appearance of the other.
George Zimmerman called 911 as he was following Trayvon and said, "We've had some break-ins in the neighborhood, and there's this real suspicious guy. ... This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about."

Op/Ed: Response to Sun's Article by Justin Fenton:
In this day and age it takes mere minutes to fact-check sources through the Internet. Fenton, an award-winning journalist who covers the police beat certainly knows this. Yet his article employs both subtle and outright crude methods to unjustly discredit four of the community spokespersons involved in the protests. Read in Full >>
Op/Ed: J. Wyndal Gordon v. Baltimore City State's Attorney Bernstein's Overwhelming Ineptitude & "Underwhelming" Performance in Office:
This is just the beginning and it is going to get worse. Newly Elected Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg Bernstein is overwhelmingly inept, and has put on an "underwhelming" performance during his first 30 days in office. If we take a snap shot of his performance just dealing with the Shomrim case, you'll understand why he was the absolute worst person for the State's Attorney job. Not analyzed in this Note but mentioned for what its worth, Bernstein has been (1) silent on the shooting of Ofr. Torbit and Sean Gamble outside of Select NightClub, (2) silent on Det. Anthony Fata's questionable or perhaps even false statement to police about a shootout with an alleged "Black" assailant in a downtown parking garage (that resulted in helicopter deployment, police man power, depletion of crime fighting budget, and "Black" men in the area being accosted by law enforcement during the investigation’s initial stages), and (3) silent on the bewildering disappearance of Phyllicia Barnes, the Honor student visiting Baltimore from NC. The Glover Report: Racism, Mayor, Police, State’s Attorney, Black People, White People, Baltimore: WHO WILL LEAD?:
What happens when more and more upwardly mobile whites live in a majority black city where many blacks are economically, politically, and socially stuck? Welcome to Baltimore!
It’s a discussion that few are willing to have: RACE. W. E. B. DuBois stated at the end of the 19th century that color would be the problem of the 20th century. Seemingly, it remains so still today.
In light of the two major incidents that have engulfed the minds and spirits of the people, race – once again – raises its head.
Many white people, I imagine, might question why the black folks are all up in arms about an 8-year veteran police officer, William H. Torbit, Jr., being gunned down in the streets like a dog. Black people, on the other hand, don’t have to wonder at all. Black people, for the most part, recognize that if the police have the license to unload on Torbit, they will surely do it to us – hands down – no question.

(BALTIMORE - June 4, 2009) - BMORENEWS.com wishes President Barack Obama all the best in his Middle East visit. The problems there go way back, so don't expect a miracle. On the other hand, if anybody can help after decades of failed policy in a war-torn region, we feel it is Obama.
