TGR: Guest Editorial: Saturday Night Fights at Upton Boxing Center:
Upton Boxing Center had a sell-out, standing room only crowd at its amateur Saturday Night Fights. Boxers came to fight from as far north as New Jersey and farther south as North Carolina to compete in the three-round prize show.
The show was hosted by Baltimore City Police Department spokesperson, Donny Moses, who often volunteers at the gym. The first bout of the night was between two local gyms: Charm City and Mac Lewis. The competitors fought in a box-off to see who would represent Baltimore in the Junior Olympic trials. Charm City was the winner. Upton’s Gervonta “Tank” Davis gained an automatic bid to the Junior Olympic trials that will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 21-23.
