Prince George’s County Council Member-at-Large Calvin S. Hawkins To Announce Campaign for Prince George’s County Executive

(PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY – December 10, 2024) – Prince George’s County Council Member-at-large Calvin S. Hawkins, II will formally announce his candidacy for Prince George’s County Executive on December 11 at Homewood Suites, 9103 Basil Court, Largo, Md., at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.

This event will be open to the public, and entry will be subject to occupancy limits. Media are encouraged to arrive in advance. Council Member Hawkins will be available for media interviews immediately following the event.

Council Member Hawkins’ announcement will mark a pivotal moment in the political landscape of Prince George’s County, as he outlines his vision for the future. Council Member Hawkins will address the most pressing issues facing the residents and business owners of Prince George’s County, drawing from his 30 years of experience in public service.

Council Member Hawkins is the only candidate who brings a proven record of grassroots coalition-building, policymaking and executive leadership. His unique combination of experience meets the moment for Prince George’s, which needs leadership that will drive economic development equitably across communities, enhance educational resources for our children, and safeguard our neighborhoods against rising crime. As a servant leader, Council Member Hawkins will call for a renewed spirit of unity, transparency, and collaborative governance to ensure that everyone has a voice in shaping the future of Prince George’s.

For over 30 years, Council Member-at-large Hawkins has held various roles, including serving as the county’s liaison to its 27 municipalities, working as an emergency management official, acting as a senior advisor to two former county executives, and as County Council Chair, notably during the coronavirus pandemic.
