Guest Editorial: The Standard of Measurement By Malika Muhammad:
Wanda Butts noted in her dominant voice “African American children are 3 times more likely to drown than White children.” The first thought that came to mind was why in the world was this statistic being measured and more importantly why are we using Whites as the standard of measurement…again. Post-Election Guest Editorial by Monica Vieira Tuck: "The Aftermath. All masks off. Show the real you.":
The election is over. The people have spoken and President Barack Obama was re-elected.
What came out of it is the clear picture of this country.
For a few weeks now, I was strangely worried, as watching the news was confusing me and leaving me depressed and scared. A part of me wanted to believe that in this day and age, there was nobody supporting the policies of intolerance and religious fundamentalism. But then again, I am in America where social help is mistaken for socialism and free health care as a sin.

The Glover Report: American Denial: Insidious Disease of Racism Exposed on World Stage:
I thank God that the murder of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year old black Floridian, has gained worldwide attention. Despite the horrific tragedy of this young man’s life being snuffed out prematurely, it has not been in vain. It has shined a refreshing “social media”-age neon spotlight on America’s most lethal disease: Racism. This racial profiling incident, which has yet to lead to an arrest, has put America ‘out there on Front Street’ for the hypocrite it is. How dare we preach to other nations about freedom and democracy when we clearly have dirt around our own door? How can actually call China out on the carpet, when we have never dealt with our most insidious disease of all: racism? Read in Full >>

The Glover Report: George Zimmerman’s Reasonable Doubt :: Trayvon Martin :: Day 39:
I can’t speak for you, but I still feel the pain of racism today: It’s 2012. And I still sense the associated violence. Its sound is sometimes faint, but with each passing day – it gets louder, and louder. The drum of revolution, revolt, uprising, and rebellion against a sinister system that would allow the world to see for itself as the cunning demon called racism boldly raises its ugly head from the ashes of American slavery: Butt-naked for the world to see, it is relentless. And there is no fear of cell phone cameras or the like – because America’s dirty little secret is not the least bit ashamed.

Op/Ed: Fear Triumphed in Trayvon Martin Case:
Then something really interesting happened. Two phone calls were made that capture the essence of the tragedy. Zimmerman and Martin both made phone calls that reveal just how apprehensive each man was over the unexpected appearance of the other.
George Zimmerman called 911 as he was following Trayvon and said, "We've had some break-ins in the neighborhood, and there's this real suspicious guy. ... This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about."

The Glover Report: The Dichotomy of Being Black in America :: Are the New Black Panthers Wrong to Offer $10,000 Reward for Zimmerman?:
To the right, there is the doctrine of Mahatma Ghandi and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. They believed in peaceful protest. They encountered the worst violence. They encountered vicious beatings, bricks, attack dogs, fire hoses, profanity, derogatory names. Yet, they still chose non-violence.
Malcolm X, sometimes considered the opposite of Martin, is often remembered for the picture where he is standing alongside the window ... with a rifle in ‘ready’ position.
As Janice B.’s commentary posted on BMORENEWS.com notes, one must be willing to accept the burden when one picks up a gun.

TGR: Schmidt Bakery Accused of Racism: The Case of Adrian Muldrow:
In a world where ignorance is ubiquitous, Muldrow took a rare and courageous stand. Guest Editorial: Senator Catherine Pugh's Letter Concerning Maryland Democratic Party Luncheon :: Steny Hoyer:
Make no mistake; these sentiments have nothing to do with a preference for any candidate. This is about our values, respect and our contribution to the forum of Party unity. We need only take note of the contentious, political cannibalism on view with the republican candidates for President. Self interest and a disregard for their Party’s larger goal may very well prevent them from victory. Read in Full >>

Op/Ed: J. Wyndal Gordon v. Baltimore City State's Attorney Bernstein's Overwhelming Ineptitude & "Underwhelming" Performance in Office:
This is just the beginning and it is going to get worse. Newly Elected Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg Bernstein is overwhelmingly inept, and has put on an "underwhelming" performance during his first 30 days in office. If we take a snap shot of his performance just dealing with the Shomrim case, you'll understand why he was the absolute worst person for the State's Attorney job. Not analyzed in this Note but mentioned for what its worth, Bernstein has been (1) silent on the shooting of Ofr. Torbit and Sean Gamble outside of Select NightClub, (2) silent on Det. Anthony Fata's questionable or perhaps even false statement to police about a shootout with an alleged "Black" assailant in a downtown parking garage (that resulted in helicopter deployment, police man power, depletion of crime fighting budget, and "Black" men in the area being accosted by law enforcement during the investigation’s initial stages), and (3) silent on the bewildering disappearance of Phyllicia Barnes, the Honor student visiting Baltimore from NC.
