The 2011 African American Festival to Provide ‘Big Break’ to Local Vocalists
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Shelonda Stokes, CEO of greiBO Entertainment, announced a new competition taking place at this year’s African American Festival. The “Baltimore SuperStar” competition will give aspiring local musicians an opportunity to receive their big break. The competition takes place on Saturday, July 2, and the winner will receive a cash prize and immediate artist exposure.
“Baltimore is home to many exceptionally talented vocalists,” said Mayor Rawlings-Blake. “The winner of Baltimore SuperStar can begin making a lasting impression on Baltimore’s musical and cultural landscape.”
The grand prize is a recording opportunity with Grammy Platinum Record Producer Darryl Pearson. “I am honored to help a lucky musician fulfill a lifelong dream,” said Pearson. “I can’t wait to start working with the winner.”
