TGR: A Conversation with Brother Richard: Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan Hits Streets of Chicago:
When I heard that the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan had hit the streets of Chicago to help address the violence that unleashed there this summer, I had to reach out to Brother Richard B. Muhammad, Editor-in-Chief of The Final Call Newspaper, the most far-reaching black-owned publication in the world.

The Glover Report: Justice Deferred ... for 45 Days:
And if you think social media put a spell on Yemen, Bahrain, and Libya in the sense that the world instantly learned of human rights violations and atrocities as they happened as of late, this central Florida town – also the county seat of Seminole County – would be cast onto the world stage as evidence that the United States of America has unresolved racial issues. And this includes Sanford, a Southern town that has seen more than its share of racial hatred and violence. Hell, they even treated Jackie Robinson bad!
Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Whether a perpetrator of a crime is black or white – decent people everywhere require that justice reign supreme over all in these United States of America. Regardless of ethnic background, income, or political affiliation, the blindfolded eyes of justice are supposed to be equal and just …. even in Sanford …. even in 2012. Otherwise, this baked and packaged American fly-by-night brand of liberty, justice and freedom that we sell across the world is merely a hoax for gangsters and Wall Street thieves. I, for one, happen to think we’re better than that.

Guest Editorial by A. Adar Ayira: CAN YOUTH LEAD?:
Have we so assimilated that we have fallen into the trap of believing that "children shall lead us" (and can we please acknowledge already that we so take this Bible quote out of context!)? If we truly believe that this is the case, then why parent youth? Why protect them? Why guide and nurture them, why impose standards and parameters for their safety?
Western society tries to have it both ways -- on the one hand, it says that we need to protect, shield, and teach youth. On the other hand, it promotes an "our children shall lead us" philosophy that fuels the entitlement thinking among youth that youth for youth's sake is enough to lead and adults should just listen to and hear their wisdom and follow their lead.

TGR: Op/Ed: Fight violence through mentoring:
There's a crisis in our community.
When I first saw the video of 16-year-old Derrion Albert being beaten to death in Chicago, it was as if an alarm went off. Maybe it was just the fact that in the 21st century, something has to be captured on video to seem real, but it immediately hit me that this could be the one: the incident that would wake us up and cause everybody to say that it's time to do something.
