blackBusiness Week

(BALTIMORE – February 4, 2008) - Paula Cullings, Wanda Draper, Pierre Stewart, John Bugg, Dr. Glenda Mosley, and Reginald Scriber will be honored next Tuesday by BMORENEWS.com and dEVNIX. This kick-off event for the 5th Annual Baltimore Black Business Week will be held at Night of the Cooker’s Restaurant, 885 N. Howard Street in Baltimore.

According to BMORENEWS publisher Doni Glover, this event sets-up three key events scheduled later that week: The African American Business Forum by Visionary Marketing Group (VMG), the Black CEO Summit, and the Black Engineer of the Year Awards. These three events will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center.

“For the past 5 years, BMORENEWS has made it our business to further celebrate work done by people like VMG CEO LaRian Finney,” said Glover.

“This is our small way of helping to continue a momentum that began nearly a decade ago,” he added.

“The individuals being honored,” said Glover, “represent the best and the brightest in our community. They all have been a tremendous help and resource to so many people in business in this, a majority black city. We just want to take the time and let them know how much we appreciate their work.”

Of the individuals listed above, special recognition will go to John Bugg. He is BMORENEWS’ 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year. Formerly the vice-president at the Greater Baltimore Urban League, Bugg now operates a State Farm Insurance office at 6711 Belair Rd. His clients include VMG.

Also, this evening will feature special addresses by Arnold Jolivet, President of the American Minority Contractors Association and Jean Fugett, brother to the late Reginald F. Lewis. While Jolivet has been an ardent supporter of black business on the local front, Fugett represents the global perspective on business in the African Diaspora.

Further, Glover said that attendees can also expect a historic announcement regarding his multimedia marketing firm, DMGlobal Communications. Now in its 5th year, DMGlobal has worked with a number of winning political candidates, non-profits, businesses, and would-be entrepreneurs.

To attend this event at Baltimore’s newest restaurant featuring the incredible Southern style of Chef Memphis, please RSVP to Ala at 410.298.8040. The chef will be providing attendees will some of his dishes, guaranteed to knock the socks off of anybody. Again, you must RSVP to attend this event as only a limited number may attend.
