AMERICA'S #1 COLLEGE SPEAKING AGENCY SIGNS TISH NORMAN
Premier agency for the nation's most outstanding college speakers signs Tish Norman to their roster of talented lecturers
(LOS ANGELES - July 25, 2009 - BlackNews.com) - A natural talent for connecting with diverse audiences, Tish Norman was selected for representation out of hundreds of speaker submissions by the CAMPUSPEAK agency. "It was time for something new in my career...time for my speaking territory to enlarge," quotes Norman. "When I speak, it's not about me. It's about adding value to people's lives.''
Having almost 15 years of educational experience, this former school teacher knows the importance of positive roles models in the lives of young people. She has a special interest in the development of college students and that is why this merger between Norman and CAMPUSPEAK is nothing but a step in the right direction.
"It is our mission to be a partner with campuses and with higher education organizations to improve college and university communities and the lives of students," says CEO, TJ Sullivan. "Tish exemplifies our brand of excellence on multiple levels."
Her internationally acclaimed keynotes and seminars on Greek Leadership, Women's Empowerment, Confident Communication, Personal Achievement and Cultural Consciousness are the reasons why Tish is so popular at leadership conferences and is invited to speak over and over again. She understands college life. She relates to students in a down-to-earth manner and when you book Tish Norman, you know that your students will get a relevant message that challenges them and makes them think. "I don't deliver 'canned' speeches," adds Norman. "People deserve better than that. I customize my messages, so it's authentic to each audience."
Having graduated from a Historically Black College & University (HBCU), Norman takes a particular interest in the educational advancement of African-American students. She makes time to consistently volunteer at Black College Expos and student leadership conferences across the nation. As the span of professional speakers evolves, Tish Norman anticipates an outpouring of optimism among college students everywhere.

TGR: Will Leronia Josey Make County History?:
Baltimore County Councilman Ken Oliver could have his hands full this election season - that is, if Ms. Josey decides to put her bid in for his seat. While Oliver is the first black to serve on the County Council, a loss to Josey would make her the first black woman to serve on the Baltimore County Council - a crew that consists mostly of white males. Move over, guys!
A black president; a possible black governor; seems only logical to me.

Jim Morrison said that ‘whoever controls the media controls the mind!’ Yet today’s media has seemed to have shifted it’s interest from responsible investigative reporting to a more instant on-demand format of sound bytes and hybrid headlines.
From the advent of social media tools such as YouTube and Facebook to the reduction in senior staff and publications of print media, the lack of real journalism has ceased to exist. However who is truly to be blamed, the reporters’ who spew the untruth without proper fact checks or the consumers of such information who propagate this gossip as factual?

Despite all that is messed up, I am taken back to grandma’s favorite hymn, #325, in the good ol’ Baptist Hymnal: “We’ll understand it better bye and bye.” I’m taken back to the praying man’s visit every Monday at 4 pm and the long, long prayers he would utter. I think of drinking tea and eating Graham crackers with grandpop before grandma got home.
Friends, it is easy to focus on the negative. It is easy to throw the towel in on life. It is easy to concede, to give up, to quit. I don’t know about you, but I refuse to do so. I just can’t. I won’t. There is a certain sense of entitlement of expanded territory that I simply demand of myself and those around me, as ordained by God. I say, mediocrity is for the lame. This kid here expects the very best that God has to offer. Come hell or high water, I’ll just have to take the hits; but progress, I insist, is imminent.
