Feb. 17th’s Ray Haysbert Awards to honor the best and brightest in business
By BMORENEWS Staff
(BALTIMORE – January 16, 2010) – For a January night, Thursday night’s Power Marketing in the 21st Century event “was the best one yet”, according to Donnie Manuel, Advertising Director for the Baltimore Times Newspapers.
Manuel, who once worked for the Afro, was one of four experts to speak about marketing and public relations. The others were: Odessa Hopkins of Another Approach Enterprises and Minority Certified Contractors; Dr. Renee Harding, a clinical psychologist who analyzed business cards for clients; and Kevin Cartwright, the face of the Baltimore City Fire Department.
The keynote for the evening was Don Fry, President of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Fry alluded to how Congressman Elijah Cummings and the late Delegate Howard “Pete” Rawlings taught him that it will take the private sector’s engagement in order for the minority business community “to really create wealth”.
Essentially, black businesses must build “strategic partnerships and alliances,” according to Fry.
SAVE THE DATE: BMORENEWS’ next event is The Raymond V. Haysbert, Sr. Awards on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6 to 9 pm at the Douglass-Myers Museum (1417 Thames Street in Historic Fells Point). Stay-tuned to www.bmorenews.com for additional details.
