BMORENEWS.com Publisher Doni Glover to speak at NABJ Conference at Georgetown on Nov. 22nd
(Washington – November 7, 2008) – The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) will be presenting the NABJ WATERGATE CONFERENCE ON POLITICAL AND CONGRESSIONAL REPORTING from November 21-23, 2008 at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The theme for the conference is “DID POLITICS CHANGE MEDIA OR DID THE MEDIA CHANGE POLITICS?”
On that Saturday, Nov. 22nd, BMORENEWS.com founder and publisher Doni Glover will be facilitating a session entitled “Backpack Journalism”. The purpose of the segment is two-fold: to enunciate being able to report from far-flung venues over various media platforms; and to discuss how to take the expertise one has learned and put it to work … for a profit.
Doni Glover, who hosts a weekly radio show, has been a professional journalist for the past 14 years and has been featured on several Maryland and DC media outlets including WBAL TV-11, Maryland Public Television, WEAA 88.9 FM, WYPR, 92Q, WOLB 1010 AM, and WOL 1450 AM.
Further, he has been quoted – particularly on politics – in a host of publications including the Washington Post, the Washington Times, The Gazette, and The Baltimore Sun. He has written for The Final Call Newspapers, The Baltimore Times, The Prince George’s Times, and The Baltimore Afro American Newspapers, and has served as editor of both the Sandtown-Winchester ViewPoint and the Northwest Voice.
Glover, who started BMORENEWS.com in 2002, said, “I am truly honored for this opportunity to discuss media and entrepreneurship.” He added, “I won’t be sharing all of the secrets, but attendees will certainly be able to gain a sense of the creativity, diligence and discipline that is required for longevity and a profit-making enterprise.”
Glover and his enterprises have consistently won awards each year of business. Some of these honors include:
*The 2008 Black Business Summit Men of Influence Award;
*The Association of Black Media Workers (NABJ) Media Choice Award in 2007 for BMORENEWS.com’s BTV;
*Baltimore City Paper’s 2006 Best Place to … Get Political;
*Baltimore City Paper’s 2005 Best Enterprising Journalist;
*The 2005 Distinguished Alumni, Coppin State University;
*The 2004 Small Business Administration Business Advocate of the Year Runner-Up in Maryland;
and the *2003 Faces to Watch, Baltimore Business Journal
The overall conference is for anyone seeking to learn more about the world of journalism right in the nation’s capital. Other panelists and speakers for the three-day conference include Joe Johns (congressional correspondent, CNN), David Hess (Reporter, Congress Daily), Charles Robinson (correspondent/associate producer, Maryland Public Television), Nikole Killion (correspondent, Hearst Argyle Television), Gregory Kane (columnist, The Baltimore Sun), Tara Wall (deputy editorial page editor, The Washington Times), and Clarence Page (columnist and editorial Writer, The Chicago Tribune).

The Glover Report: In Support of Brother Darren:
For the record, to date there has been no response from the BCPS or from Dr. Andres Alonso. For the record, I sent a request to the communications department for a response via video, radio, or print.
Mind you, this is all on camera. Check the tape.
Pardon my judgement, but something seems fundamentally wrong, especially when former Baltimore City Police Commissioner Kevin P. Clark was immediately ousted for an alleged domestic incident.
How come nobody is asking any questions about Dr. Alonso? He is charge of our children’s education. Need I say more? Prompt any questions from you?
