BMORENEWS.com Update: The HARAMBEE Dinner Club Continues, Glover named GBC finalist
He added, "With all that we do, the goal is simply to help keep the minority business community relevant in an otherwise globalizing economy. This includes not just small businesses trying to get a government contract; this also means supporting our barbers, beauticians, shop owners and undertakers. Even more, we strive to serve as inspiration to all entrepreneurs and businesses out here who make it their business to give back to the community. Truly, the dilemma we face as a nation requires the help and assistance of as many people as possible - from all walks of life."
Oct. 14th Harambee to feature MD Attorney General Doug Gansler
(BALTIMORE – Sept. 18, 2008) - It’s an amazing time for BMORENEWS.com. As the Baltimore-based news and information portal just celebrated 6 incredible years with the launching of its newly designed website, opportunities are falling out the sky.
Despite a falling economy, interest in BMORENEWS is spreading like wildfire as viewership is expanding by leaps and bounds. Just during the last 60 days, the site has engaged visitors from 65 different countries. Even more, domestic visitors have quadrupled since April. In fact, BMORENEWS is averaging over 325,000 visitors each month since.
For the uninitiated, BMORENEWS has a five-point agenda when it comes to news coverage. From the standpoint of contemporary political economy, BMORENEWS focuses its multimedia attention primarily on minority business in the Maryland-DC region, public education, ex-offender services, affordable housing, and universal access to health care.
The BMORENEWS message is reiterated each Tuesday at 10 am on the Radio One WOLB 1010 news talk show - “Empower Hour” – hosted by our founder and publisher, Doni Glover.
Word further reaches the community via his occasional political analysis on Baltimore NBC affiliate WBAL TV 11, Maryland Public Television, other local radio shows, and via BMORENEWS monthly networking events dubbed The HARAMBEE Dinner Club. The next HARAMBEE is on Tuesday, October 14th featuring Attorney General Doug Gansler. FMI, please call 443.858.2684.
Earlier this week, about 45 members of the business group convened at Velleggia’s Italian Seafood Restaurant in Little Italy. The keynote address was delivered by Don Fry of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), and attendees included Raymond V. Haysbert, Sr. – “the Maryland dean of business”.
Speaking of the GBC, Glover was recently named a finalist in GBC’s “Bridging the Gap” Awards. At GBC’s October 8th event, the winner of the “President’s Award” and other 2008 minority and women business awardees will be honored at The Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American Heritage and Culture.
According to Glover, "Being named a finalist by the 2008 GBC business awards is both an honor and a please."
