Media Internships Now Available in the DMV: Do you have what it takes?

Writers, video reporters, radio talent, and production assistants now wanted to help cover the news for one of the most accomplished independent multi-media news sites in America – primarily covering Washington DC, Baltimore City, Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Baltimore counties.

Interns will be exposed to a litany of mass communication skills including the business of media, public speaking, interviewing techniques, videography, photography and writing.

Interns will meet some of the most exciting business, political, entertainment and community professionals in the area. Equally, interns will be encouraged to teach and groom future media professionals.

The keynote for the evening was Don Fry, President of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Fry alluded to how Congressman Elijah Cummings and the late Delegate Howard “Pete” Rawlings taught him that it will take the private sector’s engagement in order for the minority business community “to really create wealth”.

Essentially, black businesses must build “strategic partnerships and alliances,” according to Fry.

Donald C. Fry is president and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC), the central Maryland region's most prominent organization of business and civic leaders. He has been the chief executive of the GBC since November 1, 2002. Since that time he has presented a new vision for the GBC that is taking shape in the form of bold initiatives designed to strengthen the area's business climate.

He has made advocacy for viable regional transportation a top GBC priority, launching a three-pronged initiative that includes lobbying at the state level, monitoring and evaluating new developments and proposals, and working on the federal level to insure that regional transportation plans are funded. The GBC has been instrumental in gaining funding to begin the planning and construction of the Red Line, an east-west rapid transit system from Woodlawn to Inner Harbor East, and expansion of the existing Metro Green Line north from Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

Jody is a native of Baltimore, MD. Her love for fashion began while she was in high school where she received one memorable award, “The Best-Dressed Student." Little did she know that her love for fashion was her gift from God. Jody began to sew at about the age of 16. This was the beginning of her passion to design fashionable, wearable garments made from the finest fabrics she could find.

In 1991, she earned a degree in Fashion Design, and in 1992, a degree in Accessory Design Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. While in New York, Jody interned with the then-fashion powerhouse Donna Karan & Company. Upon graduating from F.I.T., she relocated to the Washington Metropolitan Area where she had a loyal group of clients.
