Dozens to be Recognized at BMORENEWS.com’s 6th Annual BBBW Soiree
(BALTIMORE – February 13, 2009) - On Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm, BMORENEWS.com will host the 6th Annual Baltimore Black Business Week Soiree at The Diamond Tavern (www.DiamondTavern.com) at the New Hilton, 401 W. Pratt Street. This is a free event that will recognize several individuals for their contributions and support of black business in the area. Emcees for the event are Marva Williams and Troy Johnson, formerly of 92Q's Big Phat Morning Show.
This event will serve as the kick-off for a week full of business related activities, including the 10th Annual Minority Business Summit (www.minoritybusinesssummit.com) by Visionary Marketing Group and the 23rd Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards (www.beya.org) by Career Communications Group.

The water main break and the ensuing water crisis that struck our community this weekend are continuing to seriously impact our friends, neighbors, schools, and family members. This severe disruption to local infrastructure and quality of life has our full attention.
We understand the frustration expressed in the phone calls and emails our offices have received from those affected by the water outage. Your delegates recognize that this is a substantial hardship for families.
President Obama Donates Nobel Prize Money to Charity:
President Obama today announced the charities that will receive a portion of the $1.4 million award that comes with the Nobel peace prize.
“These organizations do extraordinary work in the United States and abroad helping students, veterans and countless others in need,” said President Obama. “I’m proud to support their work.”

The award is designed to celebrate outstanding courage and determination to raise a healthy and productive African American male. Often the media demonizes single mothers and lessons the importance of mothers raising children.
