This Monday from 6 to 8 pm, a dynamic line-up of powerful women will speak at “Woman Power” – a bmorenews networking and empowerment event planned especially for the woman. The location is XSCAPE Hair Studio, 9419 Common Brook Rd. in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Montgomery’s Delegate Taylor Hosts State’s 1st-ever MBE Night in Annapolis:
The State of Maryland served as witness Tuesday night as the first-ever Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Night unfolded at the Lowe House Office Building’s Multipurpose Room. Hundreds, including members of the Maryland Legislature and state government, attended.
At the center of it all was Montgomery County Delegate Herman Taylor, a small business owner himself, who has been on the front lines for the minority business community in Maryland.
SBA Applauds the Economic Stimulus Plan:
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will have a significant impact on small businesses and on the credit crunch, providing tax incentives and financing opportunities that will help them create jobs.
Declines in SBA lending volume last year, which are continuing in FY 2009, reflect problems in the broader credit markets, and present a significant hurdle to small business seeking credit. This tightening is due to a variety of factors, including a deteriorating economy, a lack of liquidity in the banking system, the reluctance of many lenders to extend new loans, weaker finances at small businesses, and uncertainty about taking on new debt on the part of many entrepreneurs.
