REBIRTH: The Bmorenews.com 11th Anniversary Gala & Benefit :: Honorees include Hilton Bostick :: Wednesday, December 11, 2013 :: 6-9p :: Douglass-Myers Museum
During the early '90's, I began volunteering with Dr. Gossie H. Hudson, Professor of History at Morgan and host of WEAA's 'Just You & Me' two-way-talk show. Later, I went on to host the Tuesday Edition of 'Late Night Music' and host my own 'Public Education Plus' talk show on 88.9 FM. During this time, I appeared on Kweisi Mfume's 'Bottom Line Show', Richard Sher's 'Square Off', and The Ron Shapiro Show to discuss community matters.
In 2001 during a self-imposed exile, I relocated to Des Moines, Iowa. While there, I worked as a community outreach worker for Iowa State Rep. Wayne Ford's Urban Dreams Community Center. Consequently, I went to work as secretary to State Senator Jack Hatch. Further, after having opportunities to travel the world like Paris, London, West Africa, Monte Carlos and parts of Iceland, I returned to Bmore where I'm receiving a rebirth and opportunity to do my greatest good in assisting Doni Glover and Bmorenews. THE G SPA WELCOMES SPOKESPERSON AND BEAUTY-INSIDER SONYA LOWERY
Lowery is best known as an avid thrill-seeker, lifestyle enthusiast and founder of the adventure movement, World Next Door. She believes in the philosophy of living and sharing your best life. "I spend a lot of time outdoors, and despite the exposure to the sun, wind and other harsh elements, I am always being asked how I keep my skin so healthy looking. I don't believe that women want drastic changes, only an opportunity to enhance what they already have. And that's why I'm so excited about being part of the G Spa family. I believe that small changes can make a big difference in how women feel about themselves." Read in Full >>

REBIRTH: The Bmorenews.com 11th Anniversary Gala & Benefit :: Honorees include Moonyene Jackson-Amis :: Wednesday, December 11, 2013 :: 6-9p :: Douglass-Myers Museum
Honorees on this magnificent evening include some of the most stellar people in America, including Bmorenews' longtime friend from Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Moonyene Amis-Jackson: She is nothing short of a fighter for the people. The story of Harriet Ross Tubman is one so deeply burned in her soul. All too well, she knows what it is to be black in a land dominated by whites. She also knows, like Tubman, the way towards freedom and justice for all.
From 2001 to 2009, Moonyene Jackson-Amis was an elected official on the Easton Town Council representing Ward IV, the first African American woman to stand for election in the history of Talbot County. She did what no black woman had ever done - let alone in the 21st century ... on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There are approximately 36,000 citizens in this place. And Easton is the County Seat.
