"Fashion is her Passion!"
Sharon J. Bullock is a Wardrobe Consultant, Make up Artist and Color Analyst.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, from her early teen years, she has always loved the beauty and fashion industry, and dreamed of becoming a model. Although after high school, she was accepted in the Barbizon School of Modeling, she decided to follow in the footsteps of her classmates, and attend a four year college, instead. She attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, and then later transferred to Morgan State University, in Baltimore, where she received her BS degree in Mental Health in 1976. She worked in this field for three years before discovering her need to be connected back with the beauty and fashion industry. She decided, “If I can’t be a model, then I want to always look like one!”
She began her new career in the hair care industry in 1979, in sales and management, for companies such as, M&M Products, Soft Sheen Products, and FML Manufactures Brokers for over fifteen years. She held such positions as, Account Manager, Assistant and District Sales Manager, and National and Regional Merchandising Manager, respectively.
After receiving her make up license through Von Lee in Baltimore, she studied to become a certified Color Analyst, as well. She started her own private label cosmetics line, “Make Me Over” in 1983, and began her part time business as an Image Consultant. She also free lanced as a make-up artist for companies such as, Fashion Fair, Elizabeth Arden, Lancôme, and Shiseido.
In 1992, after returning from a brief stay in New York, her career ended in the hair care industry, and she would go in another direction. She explored the communications field, where she spent fourteen years in customer service, and as a Service Manager for Verizon. Though this was only supposed to be a temporary move, it would prepare her for an even greater journey down the road.
Through her travels, one of the airlines lost her luggage, with all her favorite costume jewelry. Devastated, she decided to start making her own, to replace them. Still with an entrepreneurial spirit, she began making jewelry, and selling it on a part-time basis. This was supposed to be a stepping stone into another business venture, a full service day spa, with a boutique inside. However, little did she know, her true passion was about to surface again. In 2002, she launched Metamorphosis Jewelry Designs, selling women's costume jewelry and accessories. She would always receive compliments on her total look, so she later added hats and apparel. She stop making, and began buying her wares from various designers, and sold them at trade shows, special events, home parties, and to her one on one clients. Her customers loved her selections, and began to encourage her to take her business to another level. She kept hitting brick walls with the day spa idea, then realized, her true passion was fashion! Since being that teenager, who loved to day dream about clothes, and being a model, she began to admit, the day dreaming never really stopped!
Putting it all into perspective she decided to answer her calling, and follow her dream. In the fall of 2007, she launched her first of many (chain) stores, called Metamorphosis Wardrobe & Accessories Boutique, in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, MD, (in the Whole Foods shopping center). Her boutique carries apparel, hats, jewelry, handbags, belts, scarves, and everything you need to expand your wardrobe into multiple selections. Her slogan, "If it's not unique, we don't carry it!" will be proven over and over again, as customers experience a Metamorphosizing transformation. She also offers wardrobe consultations, personal shopping, and makeovers, in her VIP lounge, on the mezzanine level above her store, for that special touch. Yes, she finally discovered, “Fashion IS her Passion!”
Sharon is also, Co-Founder and Vice President of Sisters4Sisters, Network, Inc, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, e-Women Network, Circle of Champions, Women Business Network of America (WBNA), National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), and Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce.
She is the co-recipient of the 2008 African American Empowerment Weekend (AAEW) Legacy Female Entrepreneurs of the Year award, a 2008 Diamonds Xcel Elite Achievement Award recipient, a 2009 recipient of Gamma Phi Delta, Delta Phi chapter’s Economic Development Entrepreneur of the Year Award, 2010 winner of the Top 100 MBEs (Minority Business Enterprises) Award, and The Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leaders Award for 2011.
