Who Is She? PG Chamber's Pres. & CEO Rhonda Slade to speak at July Soiree
MEET PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRES. & CEO RHONDA SLADE
(LANHAM – July 18, 2009) – The Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce announced Rhonda Slade as the new interim President & CEO back in November 2008.
Having formerly served as the Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Slade upholds the Chamber’s mission of advancing the interests of business in Prince George’s County. As the interim President & CEO, Ms. Slade toils arduously to serve the needs of the Chamber’s members by providing business and professional development opportunities, playing a strong advocacy role on the local, state and federal levels and creating opportunities to heighten the Chamber’s visibility throughout the community.
“I consider it an honor to serve my members and my community as the interim President & CEO of this great organization,” said Ms. Slade. “As we continue to collaborate and work together toward a common goal of a vibrant Prince George’s County, I strongly believe the best is yet to come!”
Ms. Slade has been with the Chamber of Commerce since 2006, with over 20 years of experience with Fortune 500 corporations, non-profit organizations, and national trade associations. As the Chamber’s Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Slade oversaw the daily operations and management of staff, human resources and payroll, event planning and implementation and acted as the Operations Team Leader. She also served as the President’s liaison to the Legislative Affairs Committee, the Executive Committee and the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Mother of three, Ms. Slade is a Prince George’s County resident and small business owner of Creative Visions, LLC, an event management firm based in Bowie, MD.
Founded in 1924, the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit alliance of over 900 businesses representing over 250,000 employees, making it one of the largest chambers in the state of Maryland. It serves as the voice of businesses throughout the county, pursuing a healthy economic climate for business and improved quality of life for county residents. Through its various programs and legislative agenda, the Chamber promotes an understanding and appreciation for business, provides strong business community leadership to achieve objectives relating to growth, development and public well being and sponsors civic, social and cultural programs.

The shameless teachers and administrators boasted an average salary of $72,000 - $78,000 a year in a town where the average salary was only $22,000.Thankfully, Ms. Gallo became fed up and demanded that student results become a priority for these hypocritical and selfish teachers and demanded six changes that she knew would turn around the unaccountability of that school. These changes included: Being subjected to new standards of professional evaluations, adding 25 minutes to the work day, meeting with other professionals weekly for planning sessions, eating lunch with students one day a week, a two-week training session in the summer, and tutoring, occasionally: All of which I am shocked were not a priority and demanded from these teachers in the first place. CMS or what?:
Recently, I've had several conversations with clients on the benefits of moving their web sites to a web content management system or CMS. I currently use Wordpress for my web site, but I have also used Joomla, Drupal, Expression Engine, and Simple Updates. For a list and description of some popular CMS software go to CMS Critic, this by no means lists every system, but it does a good overview of many systems. TGR: Walk to Cure Diabetes by Lakrisha White:
My son, Jay, has been living with type 1 diabetes for a little over a year now. He's managing his diabetes with an insulin pump. Last fall he met with Senator Mikulski as part of JDRF's Promise to Remember Me Campaign. The campaign consists of coordinated meetings where children and teen diabetics are able to share their personal stories face-to-face with members of Congress so lawmakers can hear first hand about living with type 1 diabetes. TGR: Will Leronia Josey Make County History?:
Baltimore County Councilman Ken Oliver could have his hands full this election season - that is, if Ms. Josey decides to put her bid in for his seat. While Oliver is the first black to serve on the County Council, a loss to Josey would make her the first black woman to serve on the Baltimore County Council - a crew that consists mostly of white males. Move over, guys!
A black president; a possible black governor; seems only logical to me.
