"STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS": Keeping BMORENEWS Viable
(BALTIMORE – October 20, 2009) - Communities Organized to Improve Life, Inc. will present “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Keeping BMORENEWS.com Viable in the Community” on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 6 to 10 pm at the Frederick Douglass - Isaac Myers Maritime Park, 1417 Thames Street, Baltimore, MD 21231.
Tickets are $50 and include a light fare buffet, cash bar, the David Brown Jazz Band, special musical performances, and music by DJ Tanz. Additionally, several state and local officials, executives and personalities will be in attendance, including Baltimore City Comptroller Joan Pratt. This will definitely be an evening to remember.
From his early days as Editor of the Sandtown-Winchester ViewPoint Newspaper to running one of the country’s premier news portals on the web, Doni Glover has made it his business to continually serve the people. Glover, who is the quintessential publisher of BMORENEWS.com and host of Radio One’s “Empower Hour” on WOLB 1010 AM, has his hands in everything from providing political analysis on WBAL TV 11 (NBC) to advocating for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE’s) in Annapolis to hosting monthly business networking events.
Dubbed the ‘Russell Simmons of local media,’ Glover has also kept the public informed via his weekly email newsletter, the E-FLASH, for over a decade.

TGR: In Extraordinary Times: Proud to be Amongst the Living:
Despite all that is messed up, I am taken back to grandma’s favorite hymn, #325, in the good ol’ Baptist Hymnal: “We’ll understand it better bye and bye.” I’m taken back to the praying man’s visit every Monday at 4 pm and the long, long prayers he would utter. I think of drinking tea and eating Graham crackers with grandpop before grandma got home.
Friends, it is easy to focus on the negative. It is easy to throw the towel in on life. It is easy to concede, to give up, to quit. I don’t know about you, but I refuse to do so. I just can’t. I won’t. There is a certain sense of entitlement of expanded territory that I simply demand of myself and those around me, as ordained by God. I say, mediocrity is for the lame. This kid here expects the very best that God has to offer. Come hell or high water, I’ll just have to take the hits; but progress, I insist, is imminent.
