TGR: 1st "Woman Power" Is A Success: BMORENEWS.com Event Touches NW Baltimore County ... And Beyond!

(OWINGS MILLS – May 1, 2009) – One was an attorney. Another heads Associated Black Charities of Maryland. There was a local PTSA President present, as well as a former DC and New York television anchor and entrepreneur, two current TV personalities, a woman talking about the state’s college savings plan, an ex-offender employment specialist, a mortgage broker, the chief of the black Baltimore realtors, and an administrative specialist.
Oh, and one cannot fail to mention Speaker Pro Tem for the Maryland General Assembly – Delegate Adrienne Jones.
The line-up was powerful. One by one, the women stepped into the spotlight, spoke about what it is they do and did their part in painting a magnificent quilt of … “Woman Power.”
BMORENEWS.com’s first “Woman Power” event of the year was held at XSCAPE Hair Studio at 9419 Common Brook Rd. in Owings Mills, MD on Monday. The theme was "Health, Wealth, Beauty and Community".
To say the least, the community was hungry for such an event.
In this neck of the woods, African Americans are doing pretty well. They are living well. Yet, county living might require such an event as "Woman Power" so as to help the people get to know each other a little better.
Repeatedly throughout the event, one could hear attendees saying, "We needed something like this."
In short, black women in this part of the world "got it going on." They work hard, take care of their families, and strive for something better. That's just what I see.
