A Word from the NAACP's Todd Jealous
Dear friend:
It's that time of year again. Each summer, the NAACP family comes together at our Annual Convention to share strategies and establish our Civil Rights agenda for the following year.
Today, I am pleased to formally invite you to join us for the 102nd Convention. The events will be held from July 23rd-28th in Los Angeles -- so you can be assured it will be a star-studded event.
Take a moment to learn more about the 102nd NAACP Convention in Los Angeles and register to attend:

The theme for this year's conference is Affirming America's Promise. The past year has been filled with incredible triumphs for the advancement of our people. In spite of the challenges we have faced, it's important to reflect on the promise of progress.
This year's NAACP Annual Convention promises to be a hands-on workshop for many NAACP leaders, both present and future. From health care and climate justice, to redistricting and judicial reform, we'll discuss and strategize around the crucial issues affecting your community, and other communities of color.
Join the NAACP family for a week in the entertainment capital of the world, as we help to ensure continued progress and affirm America's promise.

If you can't make it to the event in person, don't worry -- we will be livecasting the plenary sessions and opening online channels to make sure that you can follow along from home and participate every step of the way.
But if you can make it to Los Angeles, we'd love to see you there.
Thanks,
Ben

Amongst the members of Congress, historians, popular personalities and national press, the descendants of Frederick Douglass will be in attendance during the unveiling ceremony. Nettie Washington Douglass is the Abolitionist’s great great granddaughter as well as the great granddaughter of Tuskegee University Founder and renown educator, Booker T. Washington. She is Chairwoman of Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives (FDFI), an Atlanta-based, non-profit organization dedicated to ending the many forms of slavery that still survive in the world today.
“We are so proud that the Congress of the United States has chosen to honor Frederick Douglass in this way,” said Ms. Douglass. “We especially want to thank Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of Columbia for her outstanding work on making it a reality.”
