Discussed media’s role in health disparities in African American communities
(BALTIMORE – February 11, 2009) – As part of the Black Graduate Student Association's (BGSA) Black History Month activities, BMORENEWS.com publisher Doni Glover served on a panel yesterday discussing the Media's Role in Health Disparities as it pertains to liquor and tobacco.
The panel discussion on "Liquior & Tobacco: the Media's Role in Health Disparities" took place in Sheldon Hall at 615 N. Wolfe Street.
A lively discussion indeed, the other panelists included Dana Lefko of the American Lung Association, Johns Hopkins’ School of Public Health’s Dr. Katherine Clegg Smith and Dr. David Jernigan.
Glover, who stated that BMORENEWS.com has never accepted a tobacco or liquor ad on his site in its 7 years of operation, shared his experiences from the field and highlighted pertinent information he thought was relevant.
