Bowie/Mitchellville Kappas present "Fall 2012 College Tour" on October 18th to 21st
(BOWIE - September 21, 2012) - The Bowie/Mitchellville (MD) Alumni Chapter (Kappa League) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will be sponsoring a "Fall 2012 College Tour" on October 18th to 21st to the following universities: Georgia Tech University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, South Carolina State University, Claflin University and Benedict College. The purpose of the college tour is to provide high school students from the surrounding Maryland Metro area an opportunity to: (1) visit campuses that will be amenable to their matriculation and academic success (2) meet face to face with faculty, staff and students in real time, (3) experience the culture of campus life at universities of different sizes and in different locations, and (4) to begin realizing their dreams of higher education.
The highlights of the college tour, shown in the attached flyer, may be shared with students (high school juniors and seniors) who will benefit from the experience. The cost of $250 for college tour participants will cover travel, food, lodging, the stepshow at Georgia Tech and the Benedict College Homecoming football game ticket. Payments for participating in the college tour can only be made via Paypal using the following link http://www.bm-diamond.org/ . All payments viaPaypal must be posted by October 6th.
Mandatory Meeting on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at Prince George’s Community College – Student Center, Room 244 at 1:00 p.m and 3:00 p.m.

Whether it's Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta - wherever, black people have to come to better understand a Delegate from a state Senator and a state Senator from a US Senator. We have to understand what the local Council does, what the state assembly does, and what is done in Congress. We also have to understand the legislation they write and who it impacts. Classic example: prisons. Somebody is voting for more and more prisons. My issue is that too many people who look just like me keep filling these cells. Currently, America has the Gold! It incarcerates 25% of the world's inmates, 40% who are black and male ... like me.
