HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, GBLA: Greater Baltimore Leadership Association's 2012 Masquerade Ball
GREATER BALTIMORE URBAN LEAGUE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ITS 2012 MASQUERADE BALL – URBAN LIFE URBAN LOVE
(BALTIMORE - October 31, 2012) - In 2002, seven young professionals founded Greater Baltimore Leadership Association under the tutelage of J. Howard Henderson, President and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Urban League. GBLA serves as an outlet for young professionals to offer the skills and expertise for the betterment of the community while developing and honing their leadership skills. The Masquerade Ball Urban Life Urban Love celebrates 10 years of service and commitment to the community on November 10th at the Tremont Grand Historic Venue.
Over the years, GBLA focuses on five-pronged approach to supporting the community. Financial empowerment shares personal and entrepreneurial wealth development opportunities like Know Your Money Series, Housing Workshops, Business Summer Series and Job Fairs. The community learns about relevant issues by engaging elected officials, registering to vote, and participating in Think Tank series through political empowerment. Professional development broadens leadership skills with Leadership Workshops and Professional Development Book Club. Addressing health issues, public health offers health education and vaccinations, Stress Management and Teen Domestic Violence Webinars, Purses for a Purpose, and the Big Dig. Finally, real world education strengthens outreach with children at Agape House.
As a milestone of service, this year’s Masquerade Ball serves a dual purpose. It is a fundraising event to further the programs and initiatives addressing the growing needs of the community. It is also a tremendous networking opportunity with emerging and seasoned leaders, local celebrities, and politicians. Past attendees include Major Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Former Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, Ravens Terrell Suggs and Ray Rice, and other Baltimore City Delegates and Representatives. On November 10, 2012 from 10pm - 2am, Tremont Grand Historic Venue hosts the brightest in Young Urban professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 who attend a stellar event known for its great food and fabulous entertainment.
