Greater Baltimore Urban League Hosted Annual Gala focusing on "State of Black Baltimore"

GBUL's Annual Gala at The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel
GBUL's Annual Gala at The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel featured a virtual "Who's Who" list of prominent African Americans and others. From N. Scott Phillips to Diane Bell-McKoy, the Waterfront was definitely the place to be.

(BALTIMORE - May 8, 2008) - The challenges in the City of Baltimore, a majority black jurisdiction in Maryland, are incredible: health disparities; educational underdevelopment; the mortgage lending crisis; and the list goes on and on.

Nonetheless, the Greater Baltimore Urban League (GBUL), under the guise and direction of CEO J. Howard Henderson and Chair of the Board Raymond V. Haysbert, Sr. is intent on making a positive difference and helping to battle the monster, no matter how big it is.

Today, a barrage of speakers and thinkers came to the forefront at the GBUL's Annual Gala at The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel to discuss these issues and to articulate solutions.

Everyone from Essence Magazine's Susan Taylor to school CEO Andres Alonso made it their business to educate and inspire attendees to become a part of the solution.
