Read in Full >>105-year Legacy: ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY TO SUPPORT AGENCIES AIDING BALTIMORE'S CITIZENS:
As a show of support for agencies addressing the challenges facing Baltimore's citizens, over 1,000 pink-and-green-clad members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will fan out to organizations devoted to youth, families, the homeless, women and those afflicted with cancer. The service projects take place Friday, January 11 and Saturday, January 12.
According to Alpha Kappa Alpha's international president Carolyn House Stewart, the missions of the agencies members will serve parallel Alpha Kappa Alpha's 105-year legacy of serving all mankind. It also embraces the Sorority's theme: “Global Leadership Through Timeless Service.”
The service acts are part of the festivities surrounding the Sorority's celebration of its 105th anniversary, known as Founders' Day.
The beneficiary agencies are the Baltimore American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, Our Daily Bread, Maryland Food Bank, and My Sister's Place Women's Center.

The challenge, however, is that Tion says he was in Shock Trauma at the time of the murder he is alleged to have committed. He was in the hospital being treated for a gunshot that occurred while he was being robbed in West Baltimore.

The students of the East Baltimore Community School (EBCS) never shined quite as brightly as they did this past week in a memorable Holiday production. The teacher who headed the production was educator/musician, Delandria Mills, EBCS music teacher. Along with being a flute instructor at the Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore, Mills began teaching at EBCS (K-8) this past August.

East BALTIMORE: The Men and Families Center Christmas Giveaway is Labor of Love:
The eve of the Christmas Giveaway (Thursday, Dec 20th) was a night of unpacking, sorting, stacking, and stocking items for Friday's Christmas Giveaway. Each year, three community schools are asked to select children that may not get anything for Christmas. On the day of MFC's Giveaway, the selected children visit The Men and Families Center with school staff. Each child is allowed to select toys, gloves or coats (if needed) as well as a book and a holiday snack.

Osborne Allen Payne, Noted Baltimore Entrepreneur, Passes (1925-2012):
Osborne Allen Payne, a Baltimore businessman who left a distinguished career in education to become a leading restaurateur, entrepreneur and philanthropist, died November 27, at Gilchrist Center Howard County in Columbia, Maryland of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
