'73 Poets and Bob Wade
The '73 Dunbar Poets basketball team, featuring Skip Wise (L), and Legendary Boach Bob Wade (3rd from right) attended games at Dunbar last night. Wade, who shook up the world when he left Dunbar and went to the University of Maryland to coach, will be roasted tonight at Martin's West.

"Legends" basketball game held at Dunbar, '73 Poets recognized

(BALTIMORE - May 30, 2008) - The friends of Bob Wade will host a roast in his honor tonight from 7 pm until 11 pm at Martin's West in Woodlawn. The event is designed to honor the many accomplishments Wade has made and the time he has given back to the Baltimore community. Scheduled to appear are former Wade players and NBA stars Reggie Williams, David Wingate, Muggsy Bogues and Sam Cassell of the Boston Celtics. Tickets for the roast are $65.

In conjunction with the roast, there was an alumni basketball game held last night - May 29th - at Dunbar High School. There, the '73 Poets basketball team - including the legendary Skip Wise - were recognized. This is the team that beat DC's DeMatha and placed Baltimore basektball on the map.
