Mayor Rawlings-Blake Hosts 2012 African American Festival Kick-Off Reception
(BALTIMORE - July 6, 2012) - Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake held a kick-off reception tonight at the Baltimore Hilton Convention Center Hotel for the 2012 African American Festival. Dignitaries and area sponsors of the event attended.
The 2012 African American Festival will take place tomorrow - Saturday, July 7th, and Sunday, July 8th at M&T Bank. The 2012 African American Festival will again partner with Radio One’s Stone Soul Picnic for another exciting event full of entertainment, family fun, and performances. www.BMORENEWS.com is a proud media sponsor.

Whether it's Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta - wherever, black people have to come to better understand a Delegate from a state Senator and a state Senator from a US Senator. We have to understand what the local Council does, what the state assembly does, and what is done in Congress. We also have to understand the legislation they write and who it impacts. Classic example: prisons. Somebody is voting for more and more prisons. My issue is that too many people who look just like me keep filling these cells. Currently, America has the Gold! It incarcerates 25% of the world's inmates, 40% who are black and male ... like me.
