Poly-City Game Set for Sat., Nov.3rd at M&T Bank Stadium :: 12 Noon
(BALTIMORE – October 29, 2012) – Two of Baltimore City’s most prestigious high schools will gather on Saturday at M&T Bank Stadium for an annual game that dates back prior to 1900. According to Wikipedia, “In 1889, City's main rivalry started when the first game was played between Baltimore City College and the Baltimore Manual Training School, which was later renamed the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.”
The same listing noted the rivalry record up to 2010: “Despite City's initial dominance in the series, Poly leads in overall wins with the record standing at 61–54–6.”
In any event, this Thanksgiving season game will bring out alums from both schools for one of the oldest American football rivalries in high school sports in America.
Kick-off is 12 noon.

Amongst the members of Congress, historians, popular personalities and national press, the descendants of Frederick Douglass will be in attendance during the unveiling ceremony. Nettie Washington Douglass is the Abolitionist’s great great granddaughter as well as the great granddaughter of Tuskegee University Founder and renown educator, Booker T. Washington. She is Chairwoman of Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives (FDFI), an Atlanta-based, non-profit organization dedicated to ending the many forms of slavery that still survive in the world today.
“We are so proud that the Congress of the United States has chosen to honor Frederick Douglass in this way,” said Ms. Douglass. “We especially want to thank Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of Columbia for her outstanding work on making it a reality.”
