(BALTIMORE - October 2, 2008) – Retired NASA Scientist Dr. Don Thomas will discuss “Living and Working in Space” with Coppin State University (CSU) students and faculty on Friday, October 3. The lecture, sponsored by the Department of Natural Science, begins at 12 noon in the Health and Human Services Building, Room HH103.

The lecture is the first of an academic-year-long series scheduled by the Department of Natural Sciences. The series will also present Dr. Leonid Medved of University of Maryland, BioPark on Friday, November 7 and Coppin’s own Dr. Moses Wekesa on Friday, November 21. Dr. Wekesa is an assistant professor in the Natural Science Department.

“This lecture series will be very beneficial to the students and faculty members of Coppin State University, particularly those within the Department of Natural Science,” said Dr. Jamal Uddin, Host and CSU Assistant Professor of Chemistry. “Each lecture will discuss relevant topics within the science discipline that will spark of the interest of many.”

A native of Cleveland, OH, Dr. Thomas is currently the director of the Hackerman Academy of Mathematics and Science at Towson University.
