(BALTIMORE - August 23, 2010) - After weeks of planning - LAB Productions, MomsRTheBest.com, and BMORENEWS proudly present STARPOWER to the MD/DC community. It is a talent showcase - featuring some of the untapped singing talent in the area, along with a fashion expo that highlights local designers.

STARPOWER happens this Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 6 to 9 pm at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum at 1417 Thames Street in Baltimore's Historic Fells Point. Trust and believe, this is a don't-miss "back-to-school" event for all ages. Tickets are $5. And vending and sponsorship opportunities are still available; please call Cheryl at 301.395.7589 or email her at cheryl@momsrthebest.com.

According to BMORENEWS' Doni Glover, "This all started with 'the blind man', Brother Leamon Best." He continued, "Beginning last summer, Leamon and I joined forces to bring talent of all ages from the community on the weekly show [Empower Hour] I get the chance to host on WOLB 1010 AM. This year, we joined up with Cheryl Wood and decided to have an end of summer event where people to see and experience first-hand the amazing talent that's out there."

Additionally, there will be a fashion expo highlighting local fashion designers and models of all ages. They include Benedetto Haberdashery, Cheryl Brown Crochet, and Stephan Wise Designs. Also, Sherry Web and Adrienne Watson Carver have agreed to bring some of the young people that they mentor to model some of the items.

Glover said, "A huge thanks goes out to Sabrina SkyLounge and Jody Davis Designs for their much needed assistance in pulling this thing together. STARPOWER is truly about celebrating the stars in all of us."

"STARPOWER" will also feature two Baltimore singers who have already begun to take their careers to the regional and national level: Baltimore's Queen of R&B Shakina, and R&B sensation Adrian Blu. Emcee for the night is none other than Radio One's Civ Jones

Glover added that there are many people who have worked unselfishly behind the scenes to help coordinate what he expects to be a great end-of-summer affair geared to the entire family, including Chere Cofield International, Layna B the Model, Gypsy Soul (Ear Candy), nationally-recognized makeup artist Cataanda James (Washington, DC), the museum's Marsha Jews, and Baltimore makeup artist Roshe'.

Special thanks to RAM Technologies, DigitAll Systems, and Spectrum Enterprises.
