HELP WANTED: Walmart on Liberty Road to Open for Holidays
(RANDALLSTOWN - August 21, 2012) - It’s been years in the making, but it’s finally here. Despite challenges originally, Walmart has broken ground for their new store in Randallstown – to be open just in time for the Christmas shopping season. Berg Construction is handling the heavy lifting.
The Walmart is being built in Brenbrook Plaza – just northwest of Liberty and Old Court - at 8716 Liberty Rd. This is expected to be an economic catalyst in the area – one that has long desired big box stores.
Home Depot set up in the vicinity a few years back. However, that was just one big box. Residents have said at community meetings that they would also like to see some sit-down restaurants in the Liberty Road corridor.
The complaint is that big box stores are on Reisterstown Rd. and Security Blvd., but that Liberty Road – a majority African American area – has been left out. According to Kenny Brown, a businessman who lives in the area, the Walmart would have been up a while ago, but there was some land contamination from a cleaners that used to be in the same area. A legal fight ensued as to who would be responsible for the cleanup.

I now understand that Malcolm was giving suggestions on how to digest America without losing one's mind. Read in Full >>
